So quiet!!
So quiet!!
replaced my y-pipe, unfortunatly only with a stock pipe, but i got into it to drive it today after my brother put it in, and i couldn't tell that i had started the car, it was so quiet, on my previous pipe, my whole flex-pipe was gone, it sounded like *** during normal driving, and gave me ****ty gas mileage, so happy, wish i had bought the warpspeed pipe though
yeah, it's a stock pipe, it was $150 from napa came to $170 with gaskets and tax, i'm thinking i might save up some money, and maybe late summer buy the whole exhaust from warpspeed. that is if nothing else goes wrong with my car by that time, i may need new brakes soon.
Mine sounded like a truck berore I replaced from the
cat back. When I first started it,I thought it stalled out.
What a difference!Mine was $240 with a muffler and not
stock tip. They wanted anthoer $40 0r so and they didn't
even have the part.Took'em only 20 min. man was I mad.
They charged like a lawyer or Doctor.

mandrel bent and non-mandrel bent on theirs both perform nearly equal.. they use a larger die when bending and pack the pipes with sand or something so they don't crush as bad when they're bending. so the non-mandrel bent pipes work just about as well.
warpspeed occasionally does group deals for $160 shipped on their pipes, which include the new gaskets needed.
The tick on your engine could be one of several things, but I would venture to say it's either normal lifter tick (just happens on an older engine), or it's broken exhaust studs. do some reading on this forum about the broken studs. it's a very common problem.

How many types of Y-pipes does warpspeed make for our cars. I always though that there was just the regular one, and the hi-flow one..And I thought they were both mandrel bent and alluminized????

Clicking after driving, engine shut down, doors closed, leaving the car...:
The heat shield expansion/contraction at different 'speed' makes a noticable clicking; as I got my maxim, I always wondered. Now cannot hear it anymore, so used to the noise. I suppose new stock pipe has this effect at premium...
wen i first changed my y-pipe, there was no clicking at all. after a few days, i started hearing ticking. it was my exhaust manifold studs. you can test by running seafoam through your brake booster hose and see if any smoke comes out from under the engine. found this trick from someone else on the forums.

Original Nissan stock / or warp pipe?
...booster hose goes to intake vacuum. so what happens in this trick? bolts start to glow?

When VG's tick, its normally the exhaust studs.
