Help with ABS, doesn't work.

Cliff notes of long story.
1. Bought car used. Owner did inform me about a rear end crash it was in that was fairly major, but no real details other than that.
2. Several months later replace rear brake pads and discover the rear left and rear right don't have same size pads
3. Further investigation shows that the driver side rear strut's, spindle, caliper were replaced with parts from a pre-'92 Maxima SE without ABS so the caliper and pads are smaller.
4. Replace everything back to factory spec, with post'92 ABS calpier/spindle/strut and reconnect everything. Now how do I make ABS work again?

Caliper was needing to be rebuilt or replaced anyway the mismatched one also had a torn boot.

I have never had the ABS light on dashboard light up telling me that there is error, I don't nkow how the system works. Don't have a repair manual either.

From: Skokie (look it up)
first get an FSM
second leave the ABS off and learn how to use your brakes
third check to see if the bulb is even in the dash

so your car wont stop now?? after replacing calipers your supposed to bleed the break system to remove all air from the lines, after that your ABS should work unless your master break cylinder is busted or your ABS actuator is cloged or malfuctioning.

Basicaly, there are 2 lines that go from the master cylinder. One line goes to the ABS and thats for the front tires. The second line From the Master Cylinder goes to the ABS and that controls your rear tires. So if the MASTER cylinder is putting DOT 3 fluid out of both the lines than its fine.

Now Check your ABS actuator, once break fluid goes to that it works like 4 seperate little pumps for each tire. there should be 2 income lines (master cylinder) and 4 out going lines (tires). if you hit the breaks fluid should come out of the four lines, if not then the abs is bad, or control unit for the ABS wont let it read the pressure. but they are both connected so its all one unit.

ABS breaks regulate the fluid presure per tire the car has so that it does not lock up the breaks. Dont know if I explained it right, hope you understood that.
