oil change

What kind of oil are we using out there? Any of this new "max life" any good?
10w-30 or 5w-30. Synthetic or part synthetic. Lets get some opinions. Thanks!

Personally, I've always used (and probably always WILL) either Mobil 1 Synthetic or Castrol Syntec. I know you'll hear arguments that one shouldn't use synthetic oil with as old of an engine (10+ years) as we have, but in all fairness, my engine was newly rebuilt about 3 yrs ago, and I went to synthetic oil roughly 5k miles into it's "life".

Oh, and my Max's blood is pumping 5w-30!!

I have been thinging of putting pennzoil 10w-30 synthetic in mine. do you think its a bad ideah to switch to synthetic after 16 years and 214k later?

I thought that the owners manual calls for 10w-30 to be put in.

Don't know what the owner's manual says but i'm running 10w30 , 10w40, or 5w30 depending on what I grab. I just make sure that it's API rated SJ or better.

There is a fluids and lubricants section.

I use Mobil 1 5w30, but that is primarily because it's the least expensive full synthetic at Costco.

I also change my oil every 6 months, since I drive less than 2k miles a year.

The owner's manual recommends 5w-30. I run Mobil 1 5w-30 for the same reason as Chris, but I change every 3000 miles to keep my VTCs happy. If you live in a warm climate 10w30 should be fine but it gets cold up here and the 5w30 definitely helps with the cold starts.
