Antenna
Antenna
my antenna on my 92 maxima will not go down... when the radio is turned on/off you can hear the motor for the antenna working, but the antenna does not move. it isnt rusted or anything, the antenna just wont go down. another thing is, is that i cant even really find it from the inside.
any help would be great... thanks

pull out the trunk liner on the passenger side of the car. remove the jack and you'll be able to inspect the antenna assembly for any problems. besides the antenna being a tad bent i can't think of much else that would give you this problem. good luck
It may be that the plastic teeth that drive the antenna are worn ( i replaced mine for the 3rd time last month), the best you can do is buy a new mast, however that is if the teeth on the actual mast are worn, i'm not sure about if the teeth on the driving gear are what are worn. i would think you have to replace the assembly but that seems like alot of work, and i personaly have not heard of anyone having that problem. you could always just set a stationary antenna if you were ambitous.

need to pull out the antenna...write ups are avail, i think 4dsc.com has one. once you have them out, need to open that round thing..thats were the plastic "belt" spools. Inspect if its broken...make your repair decision from there.
