Man, I want a set of those. I just might make my own... I get bored sometimes, and go crazy with a can of spray paint.

As you can see by the shady splotches thatI tried to tint the center piece already, but I think it was too cold plus I was outside. And also maybe I could've prepped it a bit more. well I still have 2 cans of the stuff so I'll practice some more.

last i remember the 4th gen trunk was over 700 in CF, and thats with a bigger number of people wanting to buy it. honestly, its never gonna happen. besides the fact that no one has volunteered to send in a shaved trunk lid for them to make a mold off of yet. you can't mold a shaved cf trunk without a shaved trunk.

i stand corrected 780, not sure if that incl shipping or not, with 5+ people buying

Some better stuff to try and use is the High temp black spray paint for grills. That's what I used when I did my friend's cavalier. Do a really light coating, might want to practice on milk jugs or something first. It took a few layers just to get it dark enough to block out the light. So I think one perfectly sprayed coating would give you the tint you want

of course, thats how you would shave the trunk, that area gets filled in flush, otherwise it would just be like the center piece would be removed.

and for anyone whos been around here long enough knows this isnt gonna happen, first off under $400 for the trunk is a very optimistic price considering what the 4th gen guys paid, not to mention the demand and the cash available for 4th gen stuff is usually more than 3rd gen stuff.

When push comes to shove for deposit money you will every excuse in the book and "I want to see ow it comes out before I pay for it"

Good Luck

You're probably right, Jay. Heck, remember how long it took for the 3rd gen CF hood to get organized???

exactly and that was when there were people around who understood you have to spend a few extra bucks to have something done the right way. Now most people are cheap and want to see the finished product before they spend money, which is understandable but if you follow that logic you cant cry when nothing is available for the car. the best way is to find a company who is willing to do it and look at some of their previous work so you can get an idea of there quality, everybody want to drive a benz for the price of a toyota, you get what you pay for.

who shaved your trunk? do you have any pics? was it perfect? because if not, any edges that dont line up are gonna be in every trunk that gets made. If your car was ever rear ended and something is out of wack and the trunk is shaved, that means the trunk is outta wack too, just something to think about when producing parts that will go on other cars.

When we had the hoods made David C sent a brand new hood so there would be no imperfections. And dont think were ******* you or anything, props to you for actually trying to get things done, were just telling you how all the people who say "yeah deff. in for sure" can be counted on untill you have their money in your hand.

huh? you're having fiber images who made the hood make one? or are you having someone local make one? did you try it out on any other 3rd gen prior to making a mold? maybe it fits great on your car but not on someone elses. dont get me wrong, if you're dooing it, thats awesome, but make sure you're dooing it perfect so you dont have to do it twice

Yup totally..and i was one of those who got it . I might be interested in this though. But that comment about the weave was correct. Not wanting to have a funky look between the trunk and hood..thought painting it might be an option....

imo, we are really trying to rush this thing. if that happens it probablly wont come out as nice as we all hope it would. and they dont make the hood for the car so it may not match the other hood.

The third gen is not some old car. It's a way of pre-Multilink beam life.

i was informed by the maker of the cf trunk and he said that it will now have the center part shaved because it needs to be oem to assure fitment but he will make a cf middle piece to go with the order of the trunk..........oh and it is the people from fiber image will be making it .... the guy at xtreme called me like 30mins ago to tell me that and the weave will be the same.......

Is the carbon fiber trunk going to come shaved or not? Will it bolt in using factory mounts or what.

sweet, so if you want, you can keep the stock tail light setup. I found adhesive vinyl for auto applications www.edecals.com/index.html .
I bought a black strip for the center tail light piece. AROUND how much would shipping probably be extra?

wait wait, not to be repetitive, but i want to make sure we understand. the guy is only making the trunk with a carbon fiber insert that replaces the reflector, correct? is the replacement peice going to look just like the reflector with the Nissan MAxima logo, and the lines for the lights? If so what year did he model it after?

Now can this deal include the hood? I know you have done alot already but is it possible you could get some pictures to show us what you mean? Thanks for taking the time to set this up man, its appreciated.

If you guys want a CF hood deal contact fiber images, the quality of their hoods is top notch, trust me Ive seen alot of crappy cf hoods where the people wished they would have paid 150-200 more rather than having the hood look like **** after a few months. "Quality Doesnt Cost It Pays" ™

It is a big mistake making the center section seperate. Trust me if someone wants a CF trunk they want it shaved. PLUS it will look like butt to have a nice CF trunk and a CF piece that is just stuck on there (or the factory piece which would look even worse).

The other problem is they cant make the center CF piece to fit all of them because there are 2 different styles for the center piece (89-91 & 92-94).

Oh well I was actually considering it if it were shaved but I dont want a line to be there and for the center section to be seperate.

I guess I can understand why they say that but I still say that they would get MORE business if they shaved it instead of having it in pieces.

i agree with awsm66 here, it would be much nicer as one piece, 2 piece just sorta makes it seem not right.

Mike is right, if its a seperate piece its gonna look like an after-thought not like it was supposed to be there, I dont get what going on here either, is there a group deal going on or just one guy having this done, because I though his trunk was shaved
