i believe fiber images (www.fiberimages.com) makes hoods for our cars however there are no cf trunks made for our cars yet.

Yeah, I would be possibly interested. It depends upon the price. I have to get new struts and springs for my Max, and would possibly hold off getting the stereo done in my truck if the price for the trunk is right.

i was hoping the reflector was shaved already. if we can get a deal going on a hood and trunk from the same place that would be perfect.

the problem with the trunk and having it already shaved is that the donor car would have to have the trunk already shaved for them to get a mold out of it. If not they will have to use a regular trunk and either make the mold with the center section on which would look funny since its not "perfectly" flush with the trunk OR make the mold without the center section on for you to add it later.

IMO a CF trunk would look ugly if you had to put your center section back on. I mean think about it...you have this nice CF piece and then you attach a red piece of plastic to it...UGLY. Now if you were just wanting it for stealth and were going to paint it body color then yeah putting the center piece on wouldnt look bad.

I seriously doubt this gets done though. They wanted $500 for the hood plus shipping when it was made. I am sure the trunk will not be much less.

Get up a deal and see though...never hurts to try I guess.

I'd be down for that, too. But Mike put it best in his post, and I have to agree with him - it's gonna be interesting to see if this gets done.

I live in So. Cal and would offer up my car as the donor depending on how long they would need it for? Let me know. Hell, I might even have to shave my trunk if it would mean getting a carbon fiber one after? Let me know.

i may be in depending on the price. what does everyone think of keeping the 2 reflector grooves for the mold? no reflector, just the grooves to match up with the turn signals. i think it might look nice...

they wouldnt do it though because then it would be even more specific. Instead of one trunk that would fit the 89-94 max they would have to make 2 trunks...one for the 89-91 and another for the 92-94. The reflector "grooves" as you call it are different for them.

find out what kind of weave they use, what kind of inner structure it will have. If it will be a bolt on trunk that uses stock latches (I refuse to use hood pins on the hood much less the trunk). will it be clear coated etc. etc.

The big thing is the weave. If the weave doesnt match the fiber images hood then there is no point in buying the trunk. I am not sure if other people are as picky as me but I wouldnt want a CF hood and trunk that didnt match. A little too ricy for me.

Matter of fact I would be leary of buying a trunk and hood from 2 different places because it may be hard to match them just right because it depends on where they get their CF from and if the weave is the same (size and style).

unless you buy them for weight savings and just have the carbon painted over...

i know some people would rather have the carbon look though (like me) and wouldn't want to paint over something that looks that good.

I'm in but I need to know specific prices. I am interested in doing some visual mods before the summer. Plus my max has to go to a body shop so I need to know where to allocate which funds. If I have like 6 weeks to pay off the kit and trunk then I'm all in. But how much for a deposit and how much time needed between that and final payment?

aha, you're right, the grooves don't even exist past 91.. i never noticed, not surprising though since i avoid looking at 92-94 tails and grilles to avoid nausea jk...

Im curious if the shaved part will be flush with the taillights or will it be sunk in as if the centerpiece was just removed. and, of course, how much.

Nope I bought them from neverending off da org. I love em too, couldnt pass em up. This is why I NEED this deal to work out. But if not I will try to vinyl the center piece.
