Engine Shaking at idle, low power?

My engine lately has been almost shaking lately at idle and the "shaking/shudder" seems to come on strongest when you have the car in drive (auto transmission) and are stopped, idling. Car also seems real weak when driving around.

Does this sound like a plug not firing or something else? No engine light has come on.

Check your spark plugs, coils, distrubutor, fuel injectors ect...

Does it have a putt putt putt putt sound coming from the muffler?

Kinda have a similar problem, Rough idle, Car still has power but it did lack serious power about a month ago and it was because my cat was blown/clogged. also i did a tune up (pluggs, belts, air oil and fuel filter), my check engion light was not on and still had no power. Check ur exhast. p.s. How could i test my injectors, those alone cause a rough idle?

Pull the connection harness one at a time and see if anything changes. If nothing changes, then its more then likely that injector that needs to be serviced. Otherwise, bring out the good ol multimeter.

also check EGR valve and make sure it's not stuck open. just pull the vacuum hose off of it and plug the hose with something. see if that helps.
If so, then the solenoid is dead and needs replaced.

grey93SE:

Yeah it does kind of have a putt putt putt sound coming from the exhaust. What do you think that would indicate?

Will have to check all these other things out when I get the chance. Thanks for the info.

Is the "Solenoid" called just that? I am having similiar problems and may want to look into this. Might even go to the yard to pull one off a car if they are expensive.

It's most likely the injector(s). Check the spark plug tips, and the one(s) that look(s) burnt is where the bad injector(s) is/are.

What's the best way to test for a faulty injector? Do you need one of those special s***hoscopes? Or is there another way to check it out without pulling the intake manifold?

no, you don't need to pull out the manifold. just unplug the injector cables and check its resistivities.

Well found the center injector to have a resistance of about 27.8 ohms while the other two were about 11. Guess that's the prob. Does running that fuel injector cleaner that Nissan makes help out at all?

By the way I also found the rear center plug to be fouled.

front center or rear center?
cleaner won't help your resistance, it's just time to bite the bullet and buy at least 1 NEW one

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. It was the front center injector that tested unusually high resistance. I haven't gotten a chance to test the rear injectors, couldn't even find them actually. Will have to look that up in the manual.

Looks like you have to remove the manifold to check the rear ones. Also I found the front three coils to have 1.3 ohm and the back ones are around the same, is that about where they should be?

I'll have to check with you for some of these parts.

there's a harness to test at on the side of the motor.

I had the same problem with shaking and low power - #3 went out.
I was mostly sure I got myself a bad injector, but it was damp injector wiring.

If you need to find out if damp wires (injector wiring, ignition wires, terminals, etc.) are the problem - spray 'em with "Dry & Go" (displaces moisture and accelerates drying). If everything is back to normal ... you have found your "real" problem

Good luck

PS: this "spray" doesn't fix a problem in a long term, of course

I just replaced my #3 injector lol...it runs really well..just has the *slightest* idle shake now and a very rare quiet *plap* from the exhaust.

I'm going to replace my spark plugs since a couple appear pretty dry-fouled,thanks to my recent injector woes I bet, and I'm going to run some ACDelco injector cleaner. Start out small.
