Transmission leaking, common causes?

Hello all,
I've done lots of looking for any info on this topic but haven't run across anything that specifically addresses it. I have a 91 Max GXE with 182k and an auto transmission. I'm starting to see some ATF on the floor. The puddle on the floor is approximately in the center of the car, maybe just a little to the passenger side. I know there are suspension components that could catch the oil and "guide" it to where it's dripping. My question is: Is there a known issue with a gasket or pressure sensor somewhere that is prone to leaking? According to the last owner, this tranny was rebuilt less than 70k ago. The fluid smells okay and looks good, but I'm wondering about changing it. Yes, I've read both the pro and cons on that too. Any help anyone could cite about their transmission leaking problems would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I will study from the master and try to learn humility.. I haven't looked for any leaks yet, but will be replacing the timing belt soon, so that will give me an excellent oppotunity. I thought there might be something notorious for leaking oil, like a pressure sensor. thanks

Really dunno. Have had no oil leaks, never with nissans... (well the former one manual leaked little from that main axle. That was until the missing (?) front support was repaired... the whole box had been warping!)

I just guess that if its becoming from between engine and tranny, theres just one seal. Here are better specialists on that issue, hopefully they answer...

there's a torque convertor seal you'll need to replace. sounds like that's worn down a bit. to do you'll need to separate the tranny from the motor and pull the TC. the seal is right there.

I may have located it. Took a look at lunch and it appears the oil is eventually running down the top of the plastic cover under the engine compartment after it drips from the passenger side transmission cooler connection on the bottom of the radiator. Tightened up the hose clamp, hoping that will take care of it. thanks all

i have a tranny leak I need to locate, as well. It seems to only leak when the engine is running. I have heard that dropping the tranny on maximas isn't that hard. Think it's a good idea?

try checking the front of the transmision. (side facing front of car)

i have an 89 max gxe auto and it had what was called a servo seal or pressure seal on the front of trans that you could see if you look under the car up at the trans or near the battery tray engine area downward. i hade a local trans shop replace the seal for $75 which included the seal fluid and labor. dealer price couple hundred or more.
