Plus Size Advice
I posted this in the Wheel & Tire section and only 3rd geners responded so I thought I would ask here.
I am upgrading to 17 x 7 wheels and wanted to know what size tire others are using. All tire shops have quoted me 235 45R17, couple of org members have suggested 225 45R17. The other option is 215 50R17 which keeps the speedo the most accurate. From what I have found, the difference in width of 225 and 215 is less than 1/2 inch. Can't decide if width or speedo accuracy is more important.

dont worry about your speedometer. If you get pulled you wont get a ticket, you can bargain it on down to a 5 dollar improper equipment fine.It only goes towards your benefit.
well a 7" rim is borderline for a 235 tire and the tire will pull in a little. I would stick with the 225 45 on a 7" wheel.
I had 225s on my old 17s and the speedo was close enough. You will not really notice much of a difference...less than 3mph probably (just a guess).

225 50 17 or 235 45 17 are close with the 50 being closest.
BTW both will fit on an 8" wide
I had to do some research for mine, I was looking for 225 but they are hard to find.
the 235s I scored a set of Dunlop sport 2000Es for $50
