Mickey Thompson ET street tires on MAXIMA

Am getting ready to take my turbo 1990SE to the track. I will be running with C16 race fuel and 20psi of boost. The 26x10.5x16 et street drag tires barely fit on my maxima with Z32TT front rims and calipers. As on stock GXE tires fit without any problems. Anyway I can custom upgrade all maxima vg30e ecus. I will post the time slip from the track.

You are the guy with the VG ECU on ebay, right?

Are you going to be reprogramming VE30DE ECUs?

Car looks ready to rumble. I wish you luck and no broken pieces.

yeah.

No VE ecu programming, they don't have an eprom. The VE stock program is pritty good. You can use super AFC and lean out the mixture 5% from 3krpm and up. Make sure there is no knock sensor code 34 when you check the ecu for codes. Thats it, you will be surprised by results.

Am going to the track tonight, I will try to post the time slip tonight or even get the video.

later am out.

great

Am happy. I did good on a track despite minor damage to the car.

I did a slight burnout staging to heat up the tires. Off the line I reved the engine up to 5k and slowly reliesed the clutch to avoid CV shaft snapping. I was able to get 2.0 in 60ft, not bad it could be better. I pulled 12.6@115 on my first run. Does that make me the fastest single cam maxima on this forum?
Anyway I whanted to dip lower with my time and improve the 60ft time. The second time I reved the engine and dumped the clutch fast. This time the car lounched better but when I shifted to second gear I heard a tump noise, I let go at that time and got of the track slowly. After examiniation I found out that my solid front motor mount bracket broke. I had to make custom one in order for the turbo to fit.

Anyway am happy with my time and I will fix the mount monday. I went there alone so no one was there to take a video, but am going again soon and will ask someone to go with me. I did not expect such a great run.

very nice time. I think that is the fastest 3rd gen time I have seen. Maybe someone can correct me, though.

i assume the Z32 rims you have are the 7.5" wide and not the TT "rear" 8.5"

i was planing on a very simalare wheel tire combo because i have access to 2 good Z32 7.5" rims and want to use BIG drag radial like a 255

you have one of the fastest maxs on this board and no SOHC could even come near you with 115mph trap thats alot of power id guess 375whp

why dont you let us know ALL the specs on the car AKA what turbo and fuel system, stock motor?, you know all the goods

and MORE PICS

umm Im not done yet And I do like 105 to 106mph. But No ware the 12.5 yet. Ok Do you have stock internals? What turbo are you running. And good job. you will need to beef up the motor mounts and the cross member too. It will break. There are a few including myself have broke one.

12.6?! DAMN! That's easily the fastest 3rd gen period, by a full second. At least the ones that have posted times anyway...

Yeah, you need a bit of rubber on your engine mounts, no matter how much power you're running. beef that thing up and get back out there!
let me know how much power you're putting down when your axles snap too... I'd like someone else to find out for me.

Yes am using 8.5 inch wide rims. Radial tires are waste, you will not be able to hook up good on a front wheel drive car. I tried it.

I have a complete rebuilded '88 VG30ET from Z31. Thats the long block. Stronger valve springs to eliminate float. Exhaust manifolds from same Z. Upgraded T04 garrett turbocharger. Custom intercooler and piping. 370cc Z32TT injectors, my own ecu program, MSD ignition box and coil with better ignition wires. Colder NGK copper sparkplugs. ACT clutch. Greddy boost controler. 3 inch exhaust piping.

I got one picture of the turbo its hard to take pictures in dark engine bay.

I don't know about the new afc2 but I used older afc on VE engine. There is no wiring diagram for installation and I had to compare 92se ecu diagram with 90 z32 for afc installation. VE engine runs too rich on full throttle. Around 11.5 air to fuel. Thats too rich for non turbo car. With afc adjusted at -5% to -10% at high throttle setting it will drop the A/F into 12 range. Doing that ecu will also advance the timing a bit. Its a 10hp gain at least and i've done it. Just make sure you use best brand pump fuel chevron 91 or higher.

wow if your are running 187 PSI of boost with im quessing 9:1 engine compression that would make your effective compression ratio 123:1

you have to let us know what turbo your running because im not aware of any that would sustain that high of a boost level and i sure hope your using a J&S or somthing

18 sounds fine for a built engine......
I've seen some Z31s running 27psi on a T4 putting down gobs of power.

did he mention "built" or "rebuilt" engine?

the only internal i saw that he mentioned was stronger valve springs.

are they stock ET pistons or N/A and what rods

also what are the specs on the turbo theres no way a stock Z31 T3 could suport a 115mph trap on a 3000lb max
