Headlight gremlins 2

I checked for voltage at the headlight sockets and found that the pass. side gets 12v on both hi and dim. With the light plugged in I don't get any voltage. The drivers side gets 12v on dim and 5v on hi. When I turned the lights off I checked continuity on both sockets- - pass side open , drivers side had cont. between dim and ground and between hi and ground. I am confused?

Try putting the passenger light bulb in the drivers socket to rule out the bulb. Then check the ground for the drivers side headlamp and make sure it has a good clean connection. If all checks out ok I might move on to the switch.
