sounds similar to my door lock problem except that I've never tried holding down the unlock switch. have you ever noticed when closing the doors that sometimes the doors lock themselves? with mine (92 nissan max gxe) it almost seems like it's possesed or has a mind of it's own. I've already posted my question, if yours is similar check out the thread that says "door locks? window won't roll down?". I don't have any information on the problem other than what other users have told me. I guess it could be the actuator in the door or wiring. Sorry I couldn't help more, If you get it fixed let me know what you did.

Did you fix it. My door lock will not unlock and I crawl thru the passenger door. Will attempt to take off the door panel (if possible with the door closed) this week-end. Also a friend of mine said that maybe someone tried to use a slim jim to break in but disconnected some thing or dislodge a lever maybe even a cable.

you wont get the door panel off with the door closed. there are two hidden screws when the door closes.

no updates on the door lock yet, i'm thinking its the wiring or the switch itself. not sure yet but i'll take it apart. it does seem like its possessed.

I believe you've got a bad Door Lock Timer. I had the same problem. Supposedly it's very common in 3rd gen Maximas. The part is a little grey box with a couple relays in it. It's located under the dash on the right side of the steering wheel. There is a wiring harness attached to it and there's another black box with a wiring harness next to it.

I've heard the part is the same in all 3rd gens. (I'm not 100% on that but I know mine is a 93 and I replaced it with one from a 92.)

The dealer wanted about $75 for a new one, but I ended up getting one from someone on the forums here.

I may have just gotten ahold of a new guy or something, but it's worth mentioning that when I called the dealership I was originally told that the part didn't exist! They weren't able to locate it until I gave them the exact partnumber. (There is a sticker on the box that says "Door Lock Timer" followed by the part number.)

Hope this helps!
