door panel?

I know I saw this on someones car domain site before but I can't remember who's. I think wiking provided me with the link or something. Anyway I'm trying to reach the motor to my window regulator motor so I can test the voltage, however I can't get the metal panel off. I already have the plastic cover off, and I've taken off some bolts, but I can't seem to get the rest off. Any help would be appreciated. Also there seems to be a wiring harness that is not connected to anything else. It was like that when I took the panel off.????? I'll take pictures if anyone needs them.

thankyou for the webpage, actually I realized that I was going about it the wrong way, I though that the metal panel came off, I guess your just supposed to pull the motor and regulator out as an assembly.

but I did find my problem, the motor as it seems is okay, the harness I mentioned in the original post is actually supposed to be conected to the button for the window on the door. well it seems that the previous car owner was aware of this, and so they unpluged it and stuck a piece of wood to hold the window up, as it seems the window regulator is the problem.

well I am curious, can anyone tell me how the window regulator actually works and why it would ever need to be replaced, I've only seen them in pictures on the net, and I havn't pulled the one out of my car completly yet. It would seem that the motor is attached to a cable which is somehow attached to the regulator as a pulley system which is attached to a piece of metal which is fastend to the window. this piece of metal attached to the window would slide up and down the long metal part of the regulator..... I think? Anyway, if this is the basics of how it works I can't see why anyone would ever replace one. maybe the cable or just add lubricant so it goes smoother.

any ideas.

the regulator has several plastic clips that hold the cable to the rails and they tend to break
usually it's one of the pieces near the pullies, but it can be in other spots too

I had to replace my Front Driverside and my rear driverside regulators.

The front motor stoped working so i replaced the hole thing, but in the back the cable snaped and motor would just Hum. so replaced the hold thing on that one too. Prety easy job.

Also you can check ebay if you need a master window switch, a new switch at the dealr runs around $120.00.
