therealgoon: looking good man, hope you get it to work, and yeah, bonding surface will be a major problem, if you factor in the "weathering" and temperature warpage. Maybe you can melt sand or some other hard contaminants to the area where it would adhere to the housing, which will help with bonding surface. Then again, I should just shut the hell up and let the master do his work.

Heh.... no. My nieghbors has a kitchen fire at 12am... But they never knocked on my door so my wife and I could get away saftley! They let the fir dept. knock down our door instead. It's dangerous being a heavy sleeper. anway more progress on the lights.

I got the corner and headlight housing welded together.

One question. How are you going to aim/adjust your headlight now that it's one piece?

It's a small pilot fog light.

I'm not going to be able to ajust the lights much. It's just going to have to be pertect.

they do look good except for the seam where you sealed them around the corner. I think it would have looked better if you had some black glue or whatever you used to seal them. The white/clear or whatever color that is kind of sticks out.

It does look good with the inside painted black though.

Once the finished product is done would you consider producing some for others to purchase? I would be interested in a pair.

My project is not going as well as yours.

Sealed, waterproof, etc
that is just mad clean. maybe its just me i have the e36 lights and clear corners but mine are not as neat. pliz give an idea of how you guys actually hooked up your lights with the wade light covers. But again that looks just awesome.

Yep

Although what he can do is paint a small strip black on the outside following that seam/glue. That's what I did along the perimeter of my lights. It hides it and really brings the whole thing together. It helps to visually seperate the clear with the rest with a 'border'

therealgoon... that's coming along great, did you mock them up on the car before you started gluing the cover on though? If not I think your headlights are going to be pretty out of whack. It *looks* like the e36's would be aimed pretty high up how they are now. I could be wrong, but man it sure would suck if you got those finished and then the headlights werent remotely lined up.

That's why I mounted mine on the car first, THEN built the covers around that

Well the passenegr is finished. Though i still need to make a bracket to hold it in, it's just sitting in there real snug.

And I don't know how but the beam is lined up perfect!!!!

Why not take that border and continue it along the e36's? I think it'd look better that way. I think it looks sort of strange how it just sort of curves off at the top and bottom, and continuing the border would also help hide the annoying flat spot at the bottom edge of the Wade covers... have you done a waterproof test yet?

Props on your effort

I didn't water test it. Reason being.
every edge is coverd in epoxy, fiber bondo, bonda, primer, paint.
And there are too many holes to cover like the 2 lights, 4 holes for the halos, and 1 for the corner marker.

ANYWAY. I didn't continue the border because i think it looks good as is.

what is that border kinda looks like elctrical tape
i also think you should make the border go along the top of the headlights
ill give credit where credit is due and it turned out real clean
not my taste but i like ur fog light idea i might even try that in a regular clear corner might be nice and bright and light up the edges of the road nicely
cant wait to see more pics

No.. it's not electrical tape. It's a bead up epoxy onthe outside(has to tbe there to make a good seal.) and i used bondo tofill inbetwean the glue to make it smooth. I didn't want any border intially but i have no choice. I don't really want to make the border extended across the headlight just because I keep on thinking it'll make a Steve Erkle glasses effect. I'm not reaally down with that. But when someone else tries it they can do that. But i got close to what i wanted.
