JUst wondered if anyone ever bought new carpet. Heres a site i've cleaned my carpet before in past cars results where good but this seems less of a hassle and only around 100$... seems like the fit is perfect from what they say...

Clean it first, then decide.
it's a bunch of work to pull your seats, console, etc. just to have cleaner carpet.

I agree with Internetautomar... to a certain extent. Owner before me had a cola fight in this car. I have spent hours with several known products to get the stains out. Pretty good results considering the stains there were, but not good enough. I am still going to need a new carpet. The seats are a little more expensive, so I am going to just be patient with more applications of cleaner. Looking back on the carpet, I shouldn't have wasted my time. It takes me about half an hour to get the carpet up. Front and rear seats, trim, and amp. That's a tenth of the time I have spent cleaning the carpets. Get the carpet.

To clean or not to clean...

Water extraction always leaves some moisture in the capet pad. This may cause rust, mildew and other nasty things. I have always used this method (except in a 1966 Mustang) and never had a problem. I even repainted one carpet with upholstery tint in a Contour.
Make sure you leave the windows open and dry it out for at least 24 hours before putting it back in service.
It is not that hard to take the carpet out, it IS that hard to put it back in. If you take it out, make sure you are putting new carpet back in.

grab some new carpet and while you've got the seats and carpet out, run all the audio system wires you'll ever need. i'm about to tackle this project after i get done fixing my body work. matter of fact while at the junk yard buying a new bumper yesterday, i bought a black rear deck piece for $10 extra dollars to replace the depressing tan peice that's in there now to match my replacement carpet which is also going to be black instead of the nasty tan. can't beat brand new interior...

I know this is an old thread, but I was thinking of replaceing my worn out grey carpet with a nice dark black carpet to match my dash and trim. Is it hard to pull the carpet and install it? I was thinking of getting some carpet from a junkyard car ( black) and replacing mine with that. I dont know who sells carpet for cars for a reasonable price.

IMO, the 3rd gen Maxima has some pretty darn durable carpet. If it's not physically torn up, I'd just clean it. Just get some junkyard black carpet, clean it, and put it in.

The 3rd gen Maxima carpet isn't like the old Civic's where it's so thin and faded that it almost demands brand new carpet. All 4 of the 3rd gens I've owned over the years had basically flawless nearly new looking carpet..

It's not hard if you do it the smart way. Have a pair of heavy duty scissors handy so you can cut the center and open up the holes that wrap around the ECU, and airbag/seatbelt module. It's kind of hard to get the original carpet out because you can't make the cut down the center.

If you ever buy new carpet, always add the mass backing option. You will regret not getting that option. It adds a thicker backing material (just like the OEM) for more heat and noise retention.

Yeah My carpet is in pretty good condition for the age of the car, no tears or anything. I just saw how nice those cars with the black interiors and the black carpet were looking at the junkyard and started thinking hmm: that might look great in my car since Ive got the black dash and trim, and Ive never really done any upgrades to my interior.
