im just wondering, i found out that my sunroof has 2 cracks in it, it is in the 2 rear corners of the glass, but it does not leak, i think that it has 2 layers of glass, kinda like the new windows in houses are made, with some kinda gas in between them, so condensation doesnt occur, does anybody else have this problem???? with the sunroof glass cracking??? id say from expansion and contraction over the years.

I had a perfect sunroof in my GXE and spare sunroof (from my parts car) but when I was painting the GXE I sat something on the sunroof a little too hard I guess and cracket it. I put the spare sunroof I had on it so I could sell the car.

I get the 92SE and it already had a crack in it but luckily Craig got me a new sunroof from therealgoon9 and another member on here...so now I have no cracks .

but yes I did have 2 cars with cracked sunroofs.

it must be a problem that nissan had, or it is just from contraction and expansion. but the only good thing it that it will not leak through the glass because of it is tempered, meaning, that it has 2 peices of glass with a plastic piece in the center, just like your windsheild has.

I have had 3 cracks in my 92SE sunroof for about 4 years now, and never a problem...well except for the weathered seals, which squeel, however thats a different post, on a different day.

ya, same with all old cars and the t-tops, the leak because of the old and cracked rubber, always remember to change your rubber guys!

Its funny that you posted this thread now cause I JUST noticed a crack about an inch long right near the right rear corner of my sunroof - I am so PISSED about it....

It rained out ALL day yesterday and I have not noticed a leak, luckily.

Just outta curiousity...how much does it cost to replace the sunroof?
More specifically:
How much for the glass itself?
Is it hard to replace the glass yourself?
...or if a professional should do it, how long does the job usually take?

Thanks guys, .orgers ROCK!

glass would probably be expsenive, expecially that kinda glass, as i said, it is safety glass, so it wont leak. i would say go to a junk yard, or dont even worry about the crack. it usually happens automatically from heat-cold. over a couple years, i would just leave it, but if you wanna change it, check out a junk yard for the glass, or if you really wanan spend the money, get a new one.

did you check the drain??? it may be clogged, or it may be cracked, or maybe a bad seal??? check all of these
