Transmission issues

So I dont know anything about transmissions, thats why im asking my favorite people. I just got a 92 SE 5 speed, and it drives good, the clutch has pressure on it. But if i am rolling and go to put it into first, say like coming up to a stoplight and the cars start moving it will grind, i have to come to a complete stop to get it into first. And also the catch point on the clutch is really close to the floor, like you move it like the tinyest bit and it catches ( alot of people say that is good tho). So people i have asked have given me two answers that it could be the clutch, and one dude told me it could be my synchros. SO does anyone know?

same with my 92 , check you're slave cylinder for leakage pull back the rubber boot... i replaced the slave and master . and it stopped .....If u grind try pusing the clutch in twice before u shift , worked for me especially in first gear , u might also want to adjust the clutch pedal

So if it is the synchros... what does that mean? Is it expensive to fix, is it something i can do at my house?

I think you have to rebuild but you might be able to buy a kit to DIY.

I know that it can vary, but how much is a tranny rebuild if it comes to that?

if it only grinds going into 1st its the 1st gear syncro if it was a clutch issue you would have issues in all gears

2 of the 4 5spds ive had in my car had this issue the current one also grinds going into 5th

the 1st one i had rebiult when it got locked in 2nd and the friend i had fix it replaced a few parts total about 400$ but didnt replace any of the bearings the syncros and gears from nissan are 60-80$ a peice

you can get a rebiuld kit from drivetrain.com for about 200$ but it dont come with the syncros you have to call them and get them and they only sell all or none and for all 5 stncros its about 250$ but you can go to the dealer to get them separate
