Short shifter

hey guys, any info on shortening your shifter without buying a short throw kit? is there a good way to do it that is actually worth it, I don't want to be able to dry my clothes on my shifter anymore

...what will the police say as if its not in their view? Besides wet shirt spoils leather, better let them dry.

i had a post of how i did mine. i took an inch and a half i think . lemme find the link

Hey i guess my post was deleted but ill post some pics.

This is the stock shifter (11" long from the ball).

This shows how much i cut from the shifter (hacksaw).

This shows how short it will be.

And the is the Final product after welding/painting it back together.

if your welding it or however u decide to put it back together you should grind it down like i did so there is more weld or whatever holding it topgether.

IMO its worth the money to buy a STS than cut the shifter down.

There is a guy on here that cut his down and used a couple of dies to cut the threads to the right size.

Or you can get an aftermarket shifter that uses locking screws instead of screwing on. I hate those though because they usually move on you.

You can get a decent STS for $70...or put a cheap 4th gen in like I did for $30 (a couple of posts down).

That is lots safer than weld, improvisations: disaster if the stick breaks during manouver. Btw, let electrons do the dirty job, forget the stick, pedal jumping pumPing...

That's when it's nice to have an ultrasound machine and xray tubes at your disposal. Hehehe....

They won't, but I can. Shifters... or aircraft... or whatever. Weld not good? Grind it down and do it again.
