I have some questions about the 95-99 engine and trans.... when you guys put them (the engines) in the 3rd gen, what mods did u have to do to put them in......any trans mods or wiring harness or motor mounts, oil pans etc.... does the trans fit too( maybe not) just some things i have been asked about from friends.... thanks

Honestly, I've never heard/seen a 3rd Gen Max with a VQ swap done to it. There have been rumors of people doing this, but nothing confirmed. If you find someone, please let me know; cause I would like to know too.

it's existance has never been physically confirmed, but if it was a photoshopped pic that we were given then it is the most awesome photoshop ever!
and the guy had major details covered like a battery put in halfcocked.
Pics are $5

Stillen VQ kit. Very rare. They did a project car back in 1996 when the 4 gens were new. Someone blew up their VE and the replacement was over $5000 at the time. So the sourced a wrecked 1995 VQ maxima and did the swap. Stillen in conjunction with JWT, did the swap and made the kit. I might have that Car and Driver issue somewhere. But just call Stillen and ask for the VE / VQ swap kit. They will know. Or ask Da Max for the kit p/n

Just go with the VG30DETT swap with a RWD setup, you'll be happy you did it down the road. I had mine done on my fourth gen a while ago and I'm SOOO impressed with it. I don't know what the part number is for the 3rd gen though so that might be the hardest thing about the swap, finding the part number for Stillen. I'm sure Jeff or MrGone will help you out with that.

courtesy nissan part #142345634_45. Can't remember all the numbers unfortunately. And they only let you order the kit on April 1st. Otherwise you have to wait a year, until the next April.

You know I was just thinking that since you already have a VG engine in your car it would probably be even easier to do the swap than it was for me. FIND THAT PART NUMBER!! I don't know why more people aren't doing this

he doesn't have a computer...you think he can afford an engine swap?...or even have enough know-how to do the engine swap?

Just buy a cheap early 4th gen if you want a VQ. There's always that Courtesy Nissan kit as mentionned above, but shipping is a real b*tch

Yes... seems kind of odd that a lot of 4th genners came over for this one.

I remember I was one of the ones wanting to do the vq35 swap... and I'll do it too... just as soon as my engine blows sky high.

yeah right, make sure to post pics when you are done.

Yeah, the one in the pics was interesting. I think it sold for under $3,000 in driveable condition, but I don't know if the accessories worked and it had like a 4th or 5th gen gauge cluster, window buttons, and a whole bunch of other interesting wiring issues. I would have considered buying it if it wasn't more than 1000 miles away at the time.

Just paypal me $3000 + shipping and I'll send you all the mods minus subframes for a fully modded VE (SAFC-II for ECU crap).

Make sure you ask turboquake about his turbo kits. He is selling them with a no break down guarantee and full technical support.
Just make sure you ask him about his gangsta lean discount.

isn't it odd that they just didn't think to put in a cone filter?
never really noticed it when that car first showed up here though.
