planning on a 2,500 mile trip

Besides replacing my axel, bushings, ball joint, and tie rods that are needed. Oh and an oil change, precautionary measures to take?

Check for coolant, P/S, fuel, brake fluid leaks. Replace coolant if not done in the past 2 years. Check rad hoses for any signs of wear. Make sure spare tire is inflated and jack is in the trunk. Put a jug of distilled H20, qt of oil, qt of P/S fluid, funnel, extra spark plug or two (old ones?) in the trunk. Make sure your alignment and tire tread is good. That's all I can think of right now.

well definately get a spare tire, maybe you should get a full sized tire??? just a thought, ya know if you blow a tire half way there, then you gotta run on that tire for a LONG time and plus the recommended speed limit is like 55 MPH right??? so you might wanna think about getting full sized tire and rim form a junk yard, it might do you some good!

Make sure your tranny is in good working order slipping, clunking, fluid etc...
It sucks when you get halfway through Texas and your tranny craps out.

And be sure to bring a blow up doll to place in the passenger seat so you can drive in the carpool lane. And hey, the doll can also keep you company too.

At Denny's I mean!!

Ok this is what you really need. Your driver license, insurance, registration, AAA is a must and some cash with a credit card. Don't over do it. Its only 2500 miles i do that in 1 month or so.
