Just tested my ignition coil packs....

I just tested my coil pack on my VE and the as per the Haynes manual, a good coil pack should be about 0.8 ohms. Mine all tested about 1.2 - 1.3 ohms. Has anyone else tested theirs and if so, tell me what results you got from your ignition coils. thanks in advance.

mines ranged from 0.8-1.0.......im not too sure how far away from 0.8 it is to be out of spec.

Did you subtract the lead resistance from the meter your using. Touch the two test leads together and measure the resistance, it is usually 0.1 or 0.2 ohms.

the coil resistance only tells you if there is a dead short, the coil will short out when its running on the high voltage side and that cannot be tested with a multimeter. If your coils have over 100k on them, and you can afford it, then replace all of them. especially if you plan to keep the car and care about performance.
