looks good! now you just need to fix the surround on one sub, and build a cover for them so stuff doesn't fly into them every time you slam on the brakes!

Haha I actually blew both surround gaskets off of the
subs for some weird assed reason. I need to get the subs
serviced. I hope they're still under warranty.
I'm actually working on plexiglas grilles but
I'm looking for a place to cut them out for me.
Also, can't decide on plex color..

-Chen127
thanks yeah, i did it myself mostly
had a friend help me cut some of the wood
(bastard can't cut straight so i had to recut)
Actually... i just applied for a job at a local
car shop, Bay Car Stereo and they told me to come
in tomorrow at 9:00 with my tools and they're gonna
gimme a trial run for the day.

Hey Evil, wow that's interesting, because that's exactly, how i got my job! haha it's been over 2 years now, couldn't imagine doing anything better. Car stereo shops can be one of the most pleasing places to work depending on the shop/owner. make sure you know your relays, heh. Good luck and have fun!

I just want to make a comment that might make the system look better. Its kinda tacky how you have black carpet and gray carpet. I hope in the future that you plan on matching all the carpet up. either all black or all gray. I would match it to your interior carpet. I think that then everything will look nice. I know how hard it is and time consuming to customize your own system. Good luck with the rest of it.

Hmm...
Im no where near done with my system. I just put up
some preliminary pix of the amp rack and the subs.
For sure I'm going to redo all the trim pieces in the
trunk with black. I still need to mount my crossovers
and capacitor too...
Sorry, I just got a lil offended when you told me
that my system looked tacky. Plus, the whole
system is wrapped in vinyl and not carpet.

I think that your setup looks tight..once you finish it, it will be off the chains....I was going to do something similar, do you still have access to your spare? I wanted mine to hinge up so that I would have access but I'm having second thoughts in the way I want to design it. I know that someone else also did something similar...

I hope that you get the job

Yup, access to the spare was one of the
top priorities when i designed it. THe
amp rack is in 3 pieces so you just lift
the center piece and take out the spare.
It's easy because of the way i have it set
up, though, i dindn't use any hinges.

Actually, i got the job and worked all wednesday.
It was fun, but scary because they dropped me
into work without warning. They even sent
me on a mobile to Marin Honda so i had to drive
up there and diagnose a car's stereo. Guess
which car it was? 93 GXE!!

i really like your setup man, but now that it looks nice, you need to sell that Rockford fuzzgay and buy some real equipment. How bout some PPI. That's what i ran when i competed, best bang for buck out there. lotta buck, but a hell of alot of bang. i had 4 ppi flat 12"s, and two PPI 600A amps (bout 1400W total), i could get my windshield wipers off the glass. too bad they're sold now, i coulda used a set of 12's in my max. oh, just so you know, that's a phat setup man, i just hate RF. just my .02 don't take it as an insult.

Re: Re: my new amp rack

Shugarhi-
That would be pretty cool I think.
Those XLC's love power and the 250a2's love giving power.
I used to have a 250a2 in my old car and damn that thing
pushed some 10" JL's to their max, even though
by the numbers, it was supposed to be underpowering them.
It was great until it caught fire in my trunk..... hehe

flyry110-
thanks, i was actually thinking of upgrading the amp
later on in life, considering that fosgate changed their
designs on the amps. I might actually go with PPI
because the shop i work at now deals with both RF and PPI
amps. I was playing with their PPI stuff and i really
like the way the stuff is set up

still gotta say, i really like the setup, how's it sound??? did you do any modifications to help the bass move through the trunk into the passenger compartment? or do you just take your seats out (for competitions?). I'm just wonderin man. even though i had insane amounts of bass, mine was NEVER even CLOSE to being that pretty.

Looking into cutting out the rear deck so the bass
travels into the cabin a bit better. The sound is
pretty durn good, with a lot of low end, but I'm thinking
to upgrade to 12's eventually. I still have a problem
with midbass, but i guess it's because i have stock
Bose crap in the front.

Haven't been to any competitions yet, because I still need
to upgrade my front speaks. I was looking into Focals,
what do you think?

honestly man, the best way to judge is to go to a competition and look at what everyone's got. look for a car similiar to yours and check it out. talk to the guys, listen to it, normally people are pretty cool, but alot of times they're biased toward their stuff. just keep that in mind. with my jeep it was easy. there were lots of blazers and stuff there. i personally ran all PPI amps and subs, and then i had a pair of 6x9's in the back and a pair of 6 1/2"s in the front, and a generic soundbar that i cut the old speakers out of and put new ones in in the ceiling. the front and rears were clarion, and i was real happy with them, and the ones in the ceiling were just sony. they were ok, there was alot in that jeep lol. i had a capacitor and an extra battery in the back, the highs and mids were run with a pair of pioneer amps, they were just layin around so i used em. so like i said, just get what you think sounds best. Oh i had a real nice eclipse head unit.

you went to?

i did pretty well, didn't win any awards for looks though lol. the ppi flat subs were cool though. Literally nobody had em but me. in the spl contest i took 2nd a few times, and i took 1st in a decible contest. i was in a tough class though because i had multiple amps. There were a few "professionals" there that would just Kill me every time. this one stupid minivan would always beat me. and the one time i thought i was going to take 1st, my rear window in my jeep blew out. i didn't break the glass, but the bass popped the top of the window out, so i was leakin air like crazy. i had people on top of my jeep, and people pushing on the windows, i just couldn't compensate for that. it was pretty crazy. i spent WAY too much money on my stupid system. it was defenitely something i grew out of after high school. I just sold all my stuff to buy other cool stuff, like a new mountain bike, and performance mods for my car i'll have to look up what my spl and decibel rating was. i'll post it later. i can't remember off hand. oh, and if you want rumble, go to 12's, if you want kick keep the 10's, if you want insane air movement, go to 15's. i personally prefer 12's, i had 4 of em, which was more than enough lol. especially the ppi flats.
