results...

results...no intake leaks, timing was about 15-16degrees, fuel PSI 35, no error codes on ecu, in emmission test it showed 150ppm HC at cruise.....and at idle it doubled...had 300ppm HC at idle.
Why would my car be putting out more HC at idle? and should I be at all worried?

What puts out more HC, or doesn't burn enough of it?...
should I adjust the IACC?

Your in Washington right?

It's been a while since I've had to mess with emissions stuff. I think high HC would be the cat though, not completely sure on that.

ya in Tacoma.....I just had a cat put on from warpspeed when i got complete setup from them..so its only barely over a year old......maybe when my cousin did the emissions test, the car was barely warm.....i dont think he would of ran it for a long period of time...like as if i were to drive to emission place and then get it taken right away, so maybe the cat wasn't warm enough to do its job?

I generally drive about 20-30 mins on the highway before going to take the test.

Funny thing was when I was getting it on the rollers I wasn't even thinking about what I was doing, stalled it twice

just grab some of that additive that guarentees a pass. i've never used it so i can't say if it works or not but it's worth a try, you don't have to pay for tests untill you pass it so it might save you some headache. maybe you're running too rich. i had a civic with high hydrocarbon output and never past the test, but that's because the camshaft pulley busted off before i could try that additive, if it doesn't work you get your money back. or so they say. can't remember the brand, try thrifty auto if you have that up in tac.

my maxima just past last month with flying colors...not visible ones though of course

Gone: they let you guys operate your car for the test?? lucky man..

all i know is that the civic i had was running very rich and was rated very badly on the carbons so that could be the cause, unfortunately mr gone might be right which might be a little spendy don't know how much catalytic converters cost new but i doubt they're very cheap. do you burn oil? if so, that could cause it...especially at idle like you say. do a test after a new oil change see if it's any better.

We drive it on the rollers, then the driver has to go stand in the 'magical safety box' and the tester then dyno's the car.

Cleaning it never hurts, just making sure it works and all that, but I am pretty dang sure its your cat that is causing the problems.

EGR, PCV, plugs,coils,timing,cat,O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, any other sensor etc.. all have an affect on emissions.

pcv valve is new, almost new plugs, timing is 15-16degrees, o2 sensor new tested=ok, coolant sensor tested=ok.....
I read on this website where if your cat isn't warmed up enough, it would put out up to 80% more HC than it would if it were completely heated up....My guess is, the car was only running for a short period of time when he tested it.

HC = incomplete burn mainly. When it's cold the car runs pig rich, but the guys at the testing place should have said something.

Are all of your injectors are working properly?

it was at a shop.............I had him do a few other things that just running to the old emissions place won't do. so 2nd test isn't free =P....I know all 6 injectors ohm out properly...and when i put screwdriver to front 3 then to ear, the front 3 all sound the same and sound like they working. when i had my jdm motor put in...my mechanic used my original fuel rail from my old motor, which i think were good, didnt have problems with them.
i been listening to my car more carefully....and every 10-15seconds it will misfire once. cause i here my exhaust do a quick put...maybe its a bad coil pack misfiring?

i did a throttle body coolant bypass to hook my water temp gauge up a few months ago...mechanic said this could cause it to run a lil richer....I thought it was mainly so the plate wouldn't stick in really cold weather.

Well you should have 6 extra coil packs you can swap out.
