Need help with wiring of E36 lights

I'm almost done installing the E36 headlights on my 92SE. I'm having trouble with the wiring though. I've read Skymax's instructions, and have followed them. However, I can only get one bulb on each light to illuminate. And when I flip on my high beams, all the blubs shut off. On the driver's side, I've figured out that the wire with the yellow stripe is the high beam one, and that the black one is positive and the red one with the black stripe is negative. According to SkyMax, one wire from the 9005 adapter would go to the yellow striped OEM wire, and the other to either the postive or negative OEM, and then both wires from the 9006 adapter would go to whichever OEM wire is left. I did that and still can't get both lights from the driver's side lamp to illuminate. Help please. This is becoming very frustrating

the black wire is ground

On your new 9005 and 9006 harnesses, you will have two wires each. Connect one from each harness to the ground and the other to the power (high and low beam).
