Chain or Belt

Quick question. 1994 GXE SOHC. Would I have a timing chain or belt?
I know I know I should know this.

If one changes their oil accordingly, then almost never.

Go to Nissan and get a FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your car. The hanes manual is mainly on the second gens but the same things apply but I have noticed some differences.

Its possible it hasnt been replaced. I got my 92 GXE from a guy that let the belt break.

He had 116K or so on it and blamed the Maxima for being an unreliable car...what the heck did he expect from something that was WAY past its service time lol. I picked the car up cheap but got tired of him always bashing the Maxima for being such an unreliable car and he used it as an excuse to buy his wife a new corolla. She misses the Maxima to this day .

Of course he also let the belt break on his Toyota Celica (120K)...he was lucky and that motor was a non interference motor so it wasnt ruined like the GXE was (the valves at least).
