spark plug gapping
spark plug gapping
i bought some high performance spark plugs and i am missing alittle at idle....i just replaced my ignition wires and it is still missing at idle and around 2200 RPM's....Also checked my distributor and its fine so.......does anyone know how much our plugs are gapped so i can measure how much my now plugs are gapped...thankyou
I take it yours is VG. Than it is 1-1.1mm or 0.04". What plugs do you have? If they are right model for the engine, their gap should not be too much different and you would only feel lack of power. If yours misses, it is usually something else.
Have you cleaned white aluminum oxide from the prongs in the distro cap?
Check your injectors one by one and see if any of them does not cause reduction in RPMs if disconnected.
Read the codes anyway.

i have gained power but it is missing....as far as fuel injectors i ran some cleaner through it about a month ago. The distibutor was new about 5k miles ago....this didnt start happing until i put the plugs in. The plugs are Denso Double Platnium's.
well figured the problem out.....to answer if Denso Iridium are good or not...they are great...My advanced timing had to be adjusted with these spark plugs....I am now only 2 degrees advanced and everything runs smooth now

the gap should be set at .039 - .044
