tried seatbelt fix, no luck
tried seatbelt fix, no luck
tried the wire fix for my faulty seatbelts and i even did both driver and pass side to make sure. at first it seemed to work, but then i grabbed the part of the driver side shoulder belt and wiggled it to be sure (the part where it slides on the track and where the push release button is) and now the light is just blinking on and off....i wedged both wires in there really good too. i did the bottom part of the connector, not the top part that is attached to the body with the little metal clip...should i have done the other one? isn't there a way that i can just disconnect them alltogether, so i never have the light on again? any help from someone who has done this is appreciated. thanks in advance.
sounds good...let me know what you find out. i'm sure that they are probably supposed to fix it, but with it being a warning light and not really a safety issue (like a broken seatbelt) i can see it being tough to have them fix it. every dealership is different and just because they are supposed to do something, doesn't necessarily mean they will do it. what are you going to say, "they told me on maxima.org that you would fix it?"
that's why stealerships are great. who knows though, i've heard of people having problems fixed regarding the rust issues and stuff so i guess there is hope. electrical problems are the most annoying because they are hard to pinpoint. anyone know of a good site to learn how to use the multimeter (just bought one but the directions with it are useless) thanks.

My issue was the motorized belt system on the driver's side. I wasn't working at all. They said they put in a new track, but it only worked for one week. I took it back and they next said it needed a new track and motor. They replaced that about 3 weeks ago and it's been working fine since then. When it was broken, my seat belt light flashed all the time. Very annoying.
My dealer where I bought my new Titan is about 200 miles away. There's a local dealer here that I don't care for. When the locals balked about fixing the Maxima, I asked my service rep at the good dealer and he said they had to fix it. If they want to be jerks, just call 1-800-Nissan1 and that will get someone's attention. If you read the warranty booklet with your owners manual, I believe it says the seat belt "system" is warranted for life. interpretation?
I had my seatbelts replaced under warranty. All Nissans built from 1989-on have this. The terms are displayed in the warranty book found in the owner's manual.
The dealerships have no choice but to fix your seatbelts if there is something mechanically wrong with them or they are unsafe, unless it is obvious that you messed them up on purpose.
Mine was frayed and I went to my local stealership. At first they didn't want to replace it, but I pushed the matter and asked to speak with the service manager. They eventually "found" the information in a repair manual that I showed them already in my warranty book and replaced it.
Both front seatbelts are one assembly, BTW.
Also, I would try to make it look like you didn't jimmy them up. Remove any wires or other crap you put in there to try and fix it yourself.

I brought my 93 max to the dealership because my seatbelt light and chime would go off now and again while driving. So i took it IRA nissan in tewksbury,ma and the service person told me it would cost me $82 an hour till they found the problem, then they would fix the problem for free. I think i'm going to call nissan home office and see what can be done.
take the buckle that slides along the door apart and remove the magnet that triggers the chime, the chime and light will never come on randomly again, if you dont want to take the buckle apart you could probably just put some electrical tape over the magnet to stop it from triggering the chime, it is on the back side of the buckle faceing the door frame
Would some wonderful soul scan that page and perhaps email it to me???? I bought mine sans owners manual and the freeking seatbelt chime goes on when ever it feels like it, sometimes for minutes at a time.
