rpm pulses when accelerating

Yesterday I took a 200 mile road trip to Wichita. There are several small towns between here and there that you have to slow down to go through. I've begun to notice a pulse in the rpms and transmission like something might be slipping? The tach will jump about 200 rpm, then settle back down. This normally happens when I'm through town and starting to resume back up to highway speed. I don't notice anything at all when the cruise is on.

Also, I hear sort of a chirp if I slow down to go around a corner in town, then apply a little gas. Almost like the transmission has been coasting, then has to catch up (like an ac compressor engaging and the belt slipping, AC off when I hear this). Any ideas what this might be? The tranny was rebuilt about 60k or so ago, and it takes a light touch on the throttle when shifting from 1st to second, but is solid above that.

Thanks
