The reason I am putting an LS1 and 6 speed in the car is because they can be had pretty reasonable (well the LT1s can right now...LS1s are still a little high but I am in no hurry).

I am not going to start on the Chevelle right away or anything I just mean that I will still have a project to sink my money into. I will probably start buying the parts I want (suspension, body panels etc) this summer and winter and maybe start on it in the spring.

Another reason I am going with the LS1 is because I am going for the pro touring style with the Chevelle. I dont like the pro street look any more and the pro touring look is more my style with the modern looks, good handling, low stance, big wheels (18s probably), and modern engine/trans. With the LS1 I can turbo it or just SC it and drive it where ever I want and get decent gas mileage. I have no interest in racing any more and havent for a while but the LS1 (espeically turbo or SC) will be plenty for what I want to do.

I would love to put a BBC in there but its just not cost effective. The reason the Chevelle even got put up is because I sold my SBC out of it and started building a 454. After about 3 grand into it I decided I couldnt keep spending on it and traded it for a lot of high end SBC stuff and put it in my Nova and later sold that when I sold the Nova so I never put another motor in the Chevelle. I didnt lose any money but man big blocks are expensive to build (to build right that is...not just throw together).

I will probably pop in here with update pics of my projects (my Chevelle, 68 Camaro etc.).

good luck with the chevelle, ill be eager to hear the progress pro touring is a good way to go, i love "modernized" classic muscle cars, aside from all-original

maybe ill send my clear corners your way over the summer for tinting, pending on how far i get with my car this year

have fun, but definitely keep poking around here and on the other forum, i like reading yours and other OG members informative posts from time to time... it prevents me from being brainwashed by all these newbies

Good engine choice Mike. LS1s are certainly coming down in price. And with it's all aluminum construction, you gain alot of weight savings also. You should have no problems getting this engine running with all the fuel injection etc....

Every once in a while there's a few that poke through the newbie layer.

I would give myself as an example... but I know some of you are going on the otherside of that screen. I mean, look at my future mod list.

New subwoofer going in this summer

Bad thing is... I might have to put a hold on the hoodscoop. Good possibility that I'll be moving to Germany later this year I'd love to go... but I have so many plans. And plus, I'll be taking the Mazda. 3 years without seeing my baby. 3 years without smoking the tires.

i'm still trying to save enough money to get my max looking as awsome as awsm66's max, but everyone is moving on already.. it's real sad. makes me want to just save up to move on as well..
