clunky bumpy

my 90 max just started clunking when I go over bumps at low speed (probably does at higher speed too but I can't hear it then).

sounds like it's coming from the front end /wheelwells.

I was thinking the struts are worn out. What do you think, oh Mighty Max.org??

...I caught a fish in the ocean and its green, do you know what kind it is??

Does your car bounce more than it should going over bumps on the road? How is your steering, is it good and stiff? Give us all the information you can, the more the better because just a typed noise and a possible place of noise cant solve most problems unfortunately.

No change in steering, its as stiff and Michael Jackson at a boy scout camp.

bumps are the same...I can feel the bumps, but the suspention feels good still. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if I hear it more from one particular side or not.

That's disturbing. A little funny, but definitely disturbing. Your problem could be a myriad of different suspension components. Here's a starter list just to get you going: control arm bushings, strut mounts, ball joints. Jump in. Diag is fun.

I just came across a clunking noise myself a few weeks ago........turned out to be a Ball Joint. I would assume the same for you..................Good luck

I would agree that it may be a ball joint! Good luck and happy fixing!

Most common cause of front end clunking in cars today is a broken sway bar end link. THe top breaks off at the bar, but the bottom remains intact and going over bumps or turning causes the bar to hit it, creating the ever present CLUNK

In my case, the clunking was a bad stut mount on the passenger side in the SE.

While I agree with the assertion of this statement on a generic level, I believe the top three for our cars falls closer to those I listed. IMPO

That's not a fish, its called THE WEED. U see, my granpa was a fisherman, I know...

Maybe front shocks (400kmiles?) are only half filled with water? Does it clunk also in the wind while P?

i have a similar problem in my rear right side
when ever i go over bumps more of a "clunk" sound
do you think this is my sway bar bushings or something
or my struts/springs?

Is it also making the noise when you turn corners? If so a CV Joint is problably your culprit.

U have to check. The rear struts have inserts, its capped with a big nut. On my former NIssan, after strut change, this 'cap' woul love to unscrew itself. Cleaned and added loctite, been good since.

...sorry 4gen, 5gen owners, this is ONLY our pastoral view:

I'm having a similar problem right now, and my dad used to be a bodyman for ABC Nissan. Point being, he told me that it's my lower a-arm bushing. I had this problem on my 89gxe and replacing that bushing fixed it. I don't know for a fact myself, but I do trust my dad. hope that helps
