Can you just swap the whole SE cluster in place of the GXE? >

Is it a direct drop in? Will the speedo still be correct? Any modifications? Thanks.

Yep, u can drop in.......But if u have a VG and want the VE cluster , i believe you'll have to change a few more stuff, but if u get a VG SE cluster you'll be fine...all you'll have to do is drop in....

What's the difference between the VG and VE cluster? Also, what is a VG and VE? SOHC(89-91) and DOHC(92-94 SE)? May be dumb questions to you guys, but I'm new to these Maximas. Thanks.

yea, the VE is more powerful

190 hp versus the VG's 160...So it has a higher speedo (145 to the VG's 125 i believe) and a higher Tach...So the numbers obviously won't match up. Stick with the SE-VG cluster so you have no problems.

Ok, what if you do not know what engine was in the car? Like if I was at the swap meet and there was a junk dealer with a cluster set that went to 125mph. Would it work in my 93 GXE?

VG's go to 125 and VE's go to 145
