well I was drivin along and went over some railroad tracks that aren't really that bad at around 35 mph. Evidently, those bumps shook a bunch of rust and corrosion loose and now I have two big holes in the pipe between the cat and the muffler. While I was under there looking around, the cat looks like a piece of garbage as well as the muffler. I have two questions
One is about replacing all that with 2.25" piping and connecting that to a newer maxima muffler. Would that work, and are there any mufflers that are better for performance but dont make much sound? I don't want to be heard coming down the block or anything, but maybe a lil growl wouldn't be too bad.
Maybe this is fantasy but, is there room to run the piping to a muffler that comes out the side of the car, in front of the rear wheel? I haven't seen it done and thought it would be pretty cool.
thanks

Just get a new cat back in 2.25" size. You will be fine. I run a 5-gen muffler. Run the exahust muffler to the side?? Look under there again. No clearance.
so u run the 5th gen muffler on 2.25" pipes.....any modification necessary to get it to fit? Also, if I do that, new cat, b-pipe, and all, will i need a bigger resonator or anything, or does it matter with the 5th gen muffler?
I run cattman Y, custom flanges, 4-gen carsound cat, 2.25" custom pipe and muffler. No resonator. Don't need one. The muffler will NOT be bolt on. It will have to be done at a muffler shop unless you know how to weld and have a bunch of mandral bends around.

yeah i saw that and i have known that the muffler doesnt line up and that its quiet but little throaty with wot, but how off was it from the end of the b-pipe.
i have a shop that could weld it for me, but just wondering how much fab work is involved....

so if I'm planning on getting the full 2.5" system from Warpspeed, is there any way I can use a muffler with a 2.25" inlet?

yeah youll just need a small adaptor 2.5 to 2.25, thats what i used when i did mine. takes the 2.5 down to a 2.25 so you can hook them up.

its just a short few inches long pipe that basically on one end is big enough to fit over muffler inlet and thin enough to slide into your 2.5 b pipe. or its vice versa, but either way there really isnt any loss in flow
i got the direct stock replacement dual-tip muffler from wsp for an SE sitting in my garage, still in box, if you want a quiet muffler (the best kind, imo). its in NYC. pm if interested.
