Exhaust System shot...a few questions
Exhaust System shot...a few questions
well I was drivin along and went over some railroad tracks that aren't really that bad at around 35 mph. Evidently, those bumps shook a bunch of rust and corrosion loose and now I have two big holes in the pipe between the cat and the muffler. While I was under there looking around, the cat looks like a piece of garbage as well as the muffler. I have two questions
One is about replacing all that with 2.25" piping and connecting that to a newer maxima muffler. Would that work, and are there any mufflers that are better for performance but dont make much sound? I don't want to be heard coming down the block or anything, but maybe a lil growl wouldn't be too bad.
Maybe this is fantasy but, is there room to run the piping to a muffler that comes out the side of the car, in front of the rear wheel? I haven't seen it done and thought it would be pretty cool.
thanks

so u run the 5th gen muffler on 2.25" pipes.....any modification necessary to get it to fit? Also, if I do that, new cat, b-pipe, and all, will i need a bigger resonator or anything, or does it matter with the 5th gen muffler?
I run cattman Y, custom flanges, 4-gen carsound cat, 2.25" custom pipe and muffler. No resonator. Don't need one. The muffler will NOT be bolt on. It will have to be done at a muffler shop unless you know how to weld and have a bunch of mandral bends around.
You guys DID see this thread 2-3 posts down right?

yeah i saw that and i have known that the muffler doesnt line up and that its quiet but little throaty with wot, but how off was it from the end of the b-pipe.
i have a shop that could weld it for me, but just wondering how much fab work is involved....

its just a short few inches long pipe that basically on one end is big enough to fit over muffler inlet and thin enough to slide into your 2.5 b pipe. or its vice versa, but either way there really isnt any loss in flow
