My friend is getting a new 2001 auto Sentra SE (non SE-R) with the 2.0 Do you think My VG auto could take him?

Sentra SE's have 140hp and I'm not sure of the torque but it can't greater than a VG's 181 and he did say it was an auto....so chances are it runs mid-high 16's, maybe slower(??)......I dunno but I think he might be able to take him. as for a 5spd I don't think it would be the same deal at all.....either way I'm not tottally sure but I really think a VG auto could take a auto Sentra. I guess weight would be the biggest factor though!! no flames please, I'm just guessing...

 

The Sentra SE has the 2.0 sr20de that was in both the previous sentra se,200sx se-r, and sentra se-r. And those cars are extremely capable of 14's but that was when the engine was only available for purchase with a 5-sp but in any case those things haul a$$ in half a trip, even though he has an auto tranny he's not dragging as much steel as you so the car does have some get up and go, and in all honesty at best I feel that that even if you gain the lead at any point in the end he will be the winner but let him know you aren't scared of a 4 banger and race him anyway.....you never know

 

a v6 with 160 can beat a 4 with 140. and it depends on the driver as well.ud be surprised what the max can beat if driven properly

 

you'd be surprised what 140hp 4cyl cars can run..I think some 5spd. SEntra SE-R's can possibly run high 15's...no VG is touching that in stock form!! it all about power to wieght ratio!

but I still think he can beat the AUTO SEntra!

 

I'd say you tie or he'd beat you. I was driving my moms 98 Altima se auto last night. Man....sure it has no torque from 1500-3000 but it pulls hard after that. Just beacuse its a 4 means squat. In drag racing, except for off the line...its all mid range and high end that counts. Your vg makes 160hp and has to lug around 3200 pounds. The sentra makes 145hp and lugs 2700 fully loaded se sunroof auto etc. 15 less hp but 500 less pounds. Even froman, ex 91se auto owner, now 2k Sentra se auto says sure that the vg pulls off the line better but the sentra is faster.

Now the se-r is gonna rock. The current se 5sp runs around 7.9 to 60 and high 15's. I think SCC got 15.7 or 15.9. Add a LIGHTER engine(belive it or not the new 2.5L is lighter than the currnt 2.0) and up to 35hp and 45 ft-lbs of torque an you have a 14's car EASY!
