Spark plugs?

What is the general consensus on what sparkplugs to use? I usually run NGK V-powers in my truck but I'm hacing trouble finding them for the Max. I don't really want to buy the Laser Platinums for my $800 car.

Hi,

just buy the regular copper plugs you will be fine,

NGK BKR5ES-11 or BKR6ES-11,

the vg doesn't need anything more then that,

Cool, the dude at the parts stores couldn't find any NGK but the platinums. He said they needed platinum because of the compression ratio.

Hi,

and the auto parts store is wrong,

it is not the compression that the vg needs a platnium,

only the ve needs platnium, the ve has higher compression,

that guys is stupid,

did you tell him that your car was a gxe not a se, and you have a vg not a ve,

he thinks you have a ve not a vg, did you tell him you have a vg,

then he must not know what he is saying,

a vg doesn't not need the platnium, only copper,

Yeah, I knew it wouldn't require platinum. The dude was apparently a noob, he said his computer only showed 1 engine for a '92 Max.

the commercials for parts stores say "we have specialists ready to find the parts you need", when in actuality, they aren't experts but probably just broke college students trying to make ends meet and reading what their computer says. what ever the computer says, is what goes at parts stores. they usually have a very knowledgable old guy walking around here and there, who knows his stuff, and not knowing that the VE and VG are two different engines on 3rd gens.

NGK's might be nice but I run Autolite in all three of mine and don't have any plug problems. Run Autolite's in my Tundra, too.

Difference between those two?

Also, can anyone recommend me a set of plug wires?

I tell you what... I have 6 brand new V-power copper plugs sitting in my garage. Trade you up if you can find some Denso plugs. Napa doesn't carry them anymore.

According to Autozone's website, they carry Denso. I never go in the place personally.

i took the decision to dont give a damn , so i did change my sparkplugs this night ( yeah i did it at the Carwash nearby ) Pretty cool , but i noticed that the previous owner or the mec who chaged the plugs the last time , screwed the hole for the #1 plug . Not quite a problem , the plug goes in without a prob , but not as deep as the other ones , maybe 1/16 inch difference . I didnt noticed any changes , exept for a better acceleration ! That was not luxury , the ones i removed where worn up .
