Deglazing the front pads

Does this work? I was recommended to do this to stop front brake pad squealing. Do I just take the pads out and grit them with sand paper or against the concrete? Do I do this to the front side, the side that touches the rotor?

Any help would be cool.

i wouldnt do it against the concrete!
but I would use some emery cloth to clean the pads up, and get some glazing off i would also get some good brake grease and grease all the moving/sliding parts on the caliper.

Yeah take some medium grit sand paper and hit the friction side of the pad (in other words the side that contacts the rotor). that should take care of the glazing. Good luck

I was recommended to do this to stop front brake pad squealing.
Depending on the given circumstances, this may not be the solution to the problem.

Variables include:
- How long the pads have been on there already.
- When the squealing happens:
- Brakes are cold / hot
- Noise happens whether the brakes are being applied or not
- Only during harder braking
- Are they asbestos pads ? or Semi-metalic ?

Extra thoughts can't hurt.

Put the car in reverse, get going to around 15 miles an hour, and get on the brakes decently hard. It will reverse the glazing, and boom, no more squeaking pads. Unless they just need to be replaced, then get hawks.
