clutch has about 15k miles on it
ok, so my brother is nagging me to let him drive my car, he doesn't drive stick but said that he knows how.. anyways making a long story short.. we come to a hill...he seemed really intimidated by it... he tried once or twice to get up and stalled out. Then I told him to give it more gas. well the car starts rolling back and he starts giving it gas... I saw and clutch smoke coming from under the hood, and we could smell it... we let the car sit for about 5 min and I took over and drove away.
-the clutch seemed a lot less grippy. (?in my mind?)
-do you think heavy damage was done? I have never seen clutch smoke like that....
-should I think about buying a new clutch soon?

Woa!! He must have really done a number on it. It is quite possible he fried your clutch. Then again, he might have just glazed it or left a burn on it. How bad is it? Can you feel/hear it slipping?

And then the Stanza clutch: it was changed five yrs 60k later, no problem. Well, slipped at first, but then really ok, like maxitech says:

the clutch was probably just overheated and glazed the surface.
drive on it for a while and it should be fine once it cools down and gets the surface cleaned back up. I see the same thing when people try to slip their clutch at the dragstrip.
