1. Get hand tools.
2. walk to car.
3. start removing stuff.
4. figure it out. this stuff is NOT hard. just pull and twist and pry a little (before you break them) and you'll see how they come off.

matt, your answer should be a sticky answer to a bunch of questions that get asked on here all the time.

i know that mrgone did a different rvmirror on his maxima, ask him, i think its even for sale.

if you do a little searching, there are aftermarket rearview mirrors that autodim and have a compass and temperature gauge built in.

Most of the Nissans I know of have the compass and temperature seperate from the mirror in a little box above the mirror. I don't recall if any Nissans have autodimming. My 2001 Infiniti does not, but it has the temp/compass and both visors have lights.

Some of you that think Matt's answer is appropriate, whatever. I got the pillars off easily enough, and probably didnt need to ask about them, but I can't get the damn headliner off!! It pops down on the whole backside, then theres 3 screws on each side above the back doors, got those, took out the dome light and sunroof control thing, and i still cant get it off!? How does it hook up in the front, and how do I get at the screws by the passenger side oh **** handle? I need some help here people, also how can I get the mirrors off, or does the headliner have to be down for them to come off?

Everything has to be off BEFORE the headliner will come off... to get the handles down you put a screw driver on the little plastic cover and it will slide off and rest on the handle and there is a screw beside it... to get the mirror mirror off you just pop of the cover on it and unscrew the screws.
