The kind of respect you are looking for will not be found in a 3rdGen.

like when u roll to the stop light and spot joe ricer with his lame smirk on his face looking at u? or like when u smoke that joe ricer on a 3 mile up hill pull?

what kind of "respect" is in question here?

Our cars sound really nice after u do a 454 big block engine swap. While you're at it , convert it to rwd.

Matt93SE's car is a perfect example of what our cars can be respected for. Past that stage, I would say turbo is the next step.

WTF are you smoking? The only thing a tired old VG auto will smoke is a mom driving her minivan full of kids and a F-350 towing 10,000 lbs. Other than that, you are screwed. My ex-g/f drove a 4 year old Cavalier auto. I couldn't pass her on the highway if she floored it. (75mph+) Same for a DOHC saturn 5spd. The VG just doesn't have any top end. 3rdGens just aren't dragsters. They are nice sedans and the VE 5spds can be relatively quick. But I wouldn't call them "fast" either.
