i just gave up on fixin' this stupid motor in my '89 SE and just decided to pull it out and thats what i discovered about the crank. now my plans r since the motor is out of my '89 i will be also pullin' out my motor out of my '93 into my '89 so that i can drive my '89 while my '93 is at a bodyshop gettin' minor repairs and then thats when i will swap in my new motor into my '93.

nelledge: i would if i was really bored
maxitech: tools will be a cherry picker, some chains or something equivalent, ramps, a hammer (just in case), some short end and deep end 10-19mm sockets and the socket for ur axles, a pry bar, now to save u a lot of time while in the process get a compressor and some air tools. that would make life a whole lot easier. don't forget a creeper cuz at the end of the day ur back starts to hurt. also have someone else be there to lend u a hand and help around. unfortunately i did this all on my own.
nelledge: i agree with u on that. mind u this is my first time i pull a motor out. now i have to attempt this again on my '93 this weekend or next.
Red92MaxSE: my car has been sittin' in my backyard next to my '89 SE for 2 weeks now.
MrGone: true.
Bri974: u tellin' me??? but hey in the end its worth it and u learn alot from it.

i will. now i will have to shop around for a flywheel and a clutch kit for my '93 cuz everything will go from '93 into the '89 so my '93 will be gettin' new parts all over again.

Im doing some thing very similar. Ive gotta strip my wrecked car, which among other things, includes dropping the tranny and motor. Then in my new car I have to take out the tranny, and put in the tranny from my wrecked car....fun. On top of that Im moving from a house with a big 2 car garage and a car pad to work on every thing to a much smaller house with a super small single car garage and sloped drive way. In short, a house/garage perfect to work on cars, to a house that sucks to work on cars. Of course this happens just as I start to work on cars.....thats just my luck.

its been awhile since i updated this but my '93 is back on the road. finished the tranny work this past Sat. and finished my '93 this past Sun. and the motor swap and everything else worked successfully on my '93. i never thought this day would come for my '93 to feel and drive like a brand new maxima from the dealer. i replaced all the exhaust studs and replaced the main gaskets for the lower intake manifold and intake plenum along with camshaft seals, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, some vaccum lines, new motor mounts, new driver side cv axle, new power steering pump and pressure hose, new accessory belts and i think thats it. i will be posting pics of my '93 in the next few days when im done doin' minor crap to it.

my motor currently has 105k miles on it and i got it for $450 from a local junkyard. i started the car at the junkyard before it got pulled out so i know the motor was workin' condition. the guy told me that they junked the car cuz the previous owner blew the auto tranny. so i basically got a good deal i suppose.

hell yeah it was and thanks. it was pretty sunny down here in Miami and hot as hell but hey i got it done and let me tell u it was worth it. every minute and penny of it too. now i should be goin' back to my '89 SE and will be takin' the top end of the motor apart to finish it. as for my '93 i will be either sendin' it to a body shop to have my R-33 tails installed along with my new E-36 angel eyes with new clear corners also blacked out completely and made into a 1-piece headlight or get my leather interior re-done. only time and money will tell as to how far i can go and get it done.
