Bumper painting

I've decided to repaint my back bumper with the spray cans from paintscratch.com. Their products have consistently good reviews on the forums and I don't feel like paying a body shop to do it. My question is, is it necessary to sand and/or prime the bumper cover before painting. I planned on doing a bit of light sanding anyway, but I don't want to have to prime it if I don't have to.

sand yes...prime no unless you want to get out small sand scratches or you have yellow showing (then only prime the yellow and feather it to the rest of the paint.

best thing to do is go to a paint supply place and buy a "grey" scotch brite pad, a small thing of wax and grease remover, a tack rag and some paper shop rags (the kind that are lint free).

first wash the bumper thouroughly with warm water and dawn detergent. Then wipe the bumper with the wax and grease remover (wipe it off before it dries or it just puts contaminents back on the paint) then sand it with the grey scotch brite pad being sure you dont leave any shiny paint on the bumper (or the paint will not stick), wash it again with dawn and then use the wax and grease remover one more time. Use a tack rag to get any lint off and paint away. Use light even strokes. I am not sure on clear since I have never used spray can stuff but I would say 1 can should be enough...you only need 2 coats normally but that stuff is much thinner than regular clear so I would say 3 or 4 coats.
