Well, what do you expect? Auto VG runs 17s. The Accord about the same. Was the Accord a stick? Ive driven a '92ish Accord (auto 4cyl) and it was peppy. It got goin at about 3500RPMs.

Theyre pretty even cars, suprisingly and unfortunately.

Well......

you kinda gotta look at it two ways......

1. his car needs tuning like he has stated, so that is possibly part of the prob!

2. and like you said Jeff, the Accords are 140hp and 5spds WILL give an auto VG some comp!! Now the auto Accords SHOULDN'T even come close or at least that is my conclusion. At stock I've raced and beat the autos countless times, but I had qutie a time holding off an early 90's 5spd EX, you can murder them off the line, but some will reel you in up top where the VG starts to run out of juice!

His was Automatic...(He's a friend)

My car has one serious problem... 2 Injectors are fux0red!

Could it be that my car was not at all running at all 6 cylinders?

My brakes are **** too, I almost hit a couple of cars stopping quick action, luckily, I hit no one and no one got hurt...

Racing with bad brakes...hmmm...

Change of plans...

1. Get some sense.
2. Fix Maxima.
3. Mod Maxima.
4. Whoop up on Accord and countless others.

Does he have any mods? The accords do have pretty decent acceleration at certain points. And will give the VG's a little run like DA-MAX said. But if he is an auto you should have the advantage.Get a CAI,and a Y pipe and you walk away from him leaving him reading your license plate.

You should shop around maybe have the stuff done at different shops. You can probably pick up the injectors and install them yourself.Along with the connectors if you buy a chiltons you can see how to do it.I just did my front axles I bought the part myself and got a lifetime warranty on a rebuilt axle. And took it to the mechanic and paid $150.00 in labor.Valve cover gasket?>You should be able to get the transmission serviced for around or under $60.00 from any trans shop. You can change the coolant yourself. And get a chiltons and do the brakes yourself.Just my .02 I am just trying to save you a little money. That is the way I do it.

$850.00 damn that is a good deal.Where did you buy it?.And was it New or used.If I could get a new engine for $850.00 I could set it in my garage and build that sucker real nice. That is what I should by with my money is a new engine. And just build it like the V8 in my boat from the Oil pan on up.My VE has 201,962miles on it now.Let me know where you got that from czar.

I went to a place called Rancho Foreign Auto Parts by my house in Moreno Valley. It cost $240 for both sides then I brought the core back in and they gave me $120 back so it cost $120 for both sides with a lifetime warranty.Little do they know I will keep my car forever and everytime they go out Im back for a new one.

NEW PROBLEM

I Fux0r3d the Power Steering Hose up during the race and now it's leaking out all of my fluid, plus there were some little metal shavings in the filter where the fluid goes in. My mechanic wants me to take it in tomorrow... He's also thinking that my Power Steering Pump is in danger...

What do you think that the hose goes for?

I wanna meet the previous owner of this car so I could smack him around a couple of times!

Yeah, this car has a crapload of problems man...

Again...

-2 Injectors Fail
-6 Injector Connectors Need Replacing
-2 CV Boots (Outer) Are DEAD
-One Axle Possibly Shot
-Needs a FULL TUNE-UP
-Needs Transmission Servic & Coolant Service
-Needs New Brakes
-Power Steering Hose and/or Pump Need Replacing
-Timing Belt & Water Pump Need Replacing (Unless I can see if it was done already)

And thats w/o including all of the body work it will need soon...

I figure, let me fix it up as nice as I can... Then next year when I get my Tax-Returns again, I'll modify it like I want to.

Stillen Body Kit, Brakes & Rotors, Exhaust System...
OZ Racing "VELA" Wheels...
CAI & Y-Pipe...
Custom Paint...
Custom Audio, etc.

I have plans for my maxima... It's suffering now because I'm low on dough and because it's been abused in the past. It needs my therapy... LOL!

dmontzmax, have you found someone to buy your JWT Pop charger? I was thinking about buying one soon, and if you are thinking you may be buying a CAI, i'll take that JWT off your hands. ok, as far as beating hondas. . . .my buddy's 92 accord, with an SE motor swap, AEM shortram, full tuned exhaust, and some intake runner mods, he's running 16.3's, i'm running 15.4's with a VE, and Nevin was running low 17's, and a 16.9 i believe. Don't quote me on that. Nevin has a VG with a stick too, so with the auto you're still losing power. intake and exhaust would be your first and most obvious step, but dude, do the maintanence stuff before you start to mod. You'd be better off modding a well running car. also, if you need new brakes anyway, look into powerstop slotted rotors. they're like 10 bucks more apiece than stock and they're a heck of alot cooler! if you do end up doing your exhaust, i'd look into a Ypipe, and have a shop run bigger pipe back to a GOOD muffler. anyway, let me know bout the pop charger dmontzmax!!!

Im just wondering why you didnt shop around some more. $3500 for a '90 GXE in that kind of shape? Hindsight is always 20/20, but be patient when buying a car. With the $1000 in maintence it needs, that brings the price up to about $4500!

Im sure you could have found a lot better car for that.

BTW - The PS hose is pretty cheap, its the PS pump that will be expensive.

All I can say is, good luck.

Jeff...

Thanx for the info on the PS Hose...

I went for this one because they let me pay them in installments. I only had $2,000 at the time and they let me take it with $1,500... I have to pay them the $2,000 in the next 3 Months. Remember, I'm 17 and no one will finance me!

I know what you mean about the financing. In Nebraska, you have to be 19 before they will give you a loan. Blah Blah...

I was pretty lucky. My step grandfather lent me $4000 for my Max. No interest and can pay him back whenever I can.
