yesterday it was very hot in my area, but when i turned on my a/c only warm air cam out, i let it run for about 20 mins and it was still warm air, whats goin on? what is needed to fix it?

 

Take it to a shop. You probably have a freon leak somewhere. They will be able to fix the leak and replace the freon. It's not going to be cheap, though.

My A/C stopped working (stopped blowing cold air) late summer/early fall last year. I didn't have A/C until this past Friday. I was worried because the A/C compressor wouldn't turn on (the A/C button would have the green light on when pressed but the A/C compressor would not kick in and bog the engine down like most compressors do).
I tried to recharge the R134a freon myself but the compressor would not turn on to pull it in. I took it to Jiffy Lube. It was a $59.99 hook-up charge to check for leaks. If they found a leak, I was out the $59.99. If there was no leak, they would charge it if they could and it would cost me a total $136.
There was no leaks, it cost me $136 and I'm happy! No more being stuck in traffic jams with the windows rolled down, breathing other cars exhaust and being hot. Windows are rolled up and the a/c is blowing COLD!
