15.6 @ 88 mph

Hmmmm......
I'm not really sure, but 15.6 sounds too fast for the mods you have. got any timeslips? I'm not doubting you just curious is all.....

That is a very good time. I figured advanced timing would definitly help our cars, I dropped 2 tenths in my SE-R wiht advanced timing and better shifting. Also if you were able to bring that 60ft down to like 2.2x-2.3 you would run 15.4's all day long. Did you do the shifting or let the tranny do it itself?

ok to advance the timing. you can just bump it a little or youu can do it with a timing light. on the right side of your motor, aligned with the front camshaft, there's a black box looking thing. it's got two bolts that take a screwdriver, or a regular socket. you'll see the slots. you loosen those two bolts, and to advance, you rotate clockwise in relation to you looking directly at the box. they said the timing marks are on the main pulley, but i couldn't find em. hope this helps.

Yeah,Sam i'm pretty surprised!
Mike i got a B&M tranny cooler, not put on yet, check out the sticky posts on tranny coolers, and also check out the group deal section, Don is having his VB mod group buy right now! I'm defenitely getting in on it, but i'm kinda lazy about doin all that work but, ***** it! Gotta do what i Gotta do!

NICE
I have a stock 93 SE auto, I've never been to the track but I want to try it a few times.. This gives me an idea of how well my car should run, I suppose with my stock (performance wise) car I should get around 16.2 or so.. But knowing my piece of **** car I can expect a 17.XX .
nice time anyways!
Are there any adverse affects of advancing timing? thanks

Re: NICE
no, i'd say defenitely use a timing light, but i couldn't find the stupid marks on teh main pulley, so i just bumped mine a little bit, drove it, bumped it, drove it. did a little tweaking at the track too. but that IS the ghetto way to do it, but i think i found the sweet spot.

That is pretty impressive.I have yet to run mine at the track I was thinking I would pull like mid 16's.I need to advance my timing.Does it make your car run any different when it comes to everyday driving? Like Gas mileage?

Keep your heater going full blast as well. the heater is drawing the heat away from the engine, thus, cooler engine!

HUH???
how much cooler could this make the engine...doesn't combustion occur INSIDE the engine, thus thats where all the heat is?? and won't running the heat draw/rob power?

Yeah...
I just never heard if it before! weird stuff though, but if it gets results, then more power to 'ya!!
but I agree with James, it sounds like another "race myth" something like, MOTH ***** in the gas tank is as good as a low shot of NITROUS!!!.....WTF????

When your heater is on at normal temp. it will draw heat from the motor into the cabin area.
Think about when you start your car in the morning, and you turn your heater on you don't get warm air until your engine heats up.

personally i would think running the blower for the heater would hurt you. You're pulling electricity which makes the alternator harder to turn. if you don't blelive me, try hooking up accessories to one and trying to turn it! my buddy had some sorta demonstration thing at votech when i was in HS. anyway, running the heater CAN help cool the engine. your heater core is like another radiator, it can help cool the engine if you have your heat on FULL BLAST, but it's really not that much. i had to do it in my jeep cause it would overheat. You could see it made a difference, but i don't think it's worth it. 1. you sweat like crazy, 2. it draws from your alternator. when i'm runnin i have NOTHING on. at night i have to keep my parking lights on so i can see my tach, but that's it. and i don't usually do my start with them on. anyway, just my $.02
