Wiper Problem

SO I AM DRIVING HOME FROM THE MOVIES AND IT STARTS DOWN POORING. I GO TO TURN ON MY WIPERS AND I HEAR A LOUD BANG. I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEONE HIT MY CAR BUT IT SINCE THE BANG THE WIPERS DONT WORK. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED IT OUT. THE WIPER MOTOR STILL SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE WORKING BUT THEY BLADES ARE NOT MOVING. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.?
THANKS

you have to remove the cover that covers the housing (not really, its just a semi sealed space in the frame) and see if anything is broken. LMK I have a parts car with all good wiper parts.

Also just buy new parts from the dealer.Mine did this and it was the linkage that went from the motor to the center piece and it was only $22 canadian,The rod on mine the female side of the plastic ball joint had a small piece broke out of it.

Also you have to remove the hood to remove the cowling,If neither wiper is working then I woudl say it is the same bar.Must be a half normal problem since the closest nissan dealer ot here keep that piece in stock in 2 count. Also I almost forgot,it is super hard to get the ball joint ot nsap onto the motor side sicne it is too small to get your hands in there,i used a prybar and my hand to get it on.

No, you do not have to remove the hood. At least I did not have to and I never broke any plastic. Good idea about the prybar tho - I used something similar, probably the screwdriver part of the Nissan jack kit.

well it is definatly easier with the hood off then There wa sa reason I took mine off.Not a bad job if you have 2 guys and a couple sockets anyway to make the job easier to get at.

Woose.... No need to remove the hood. IT's easier to open and close the hood, then possibly breaking the windshield and dealing with fitment issues.

hehe dont know how you remove a hood, but then again I guess since I work in a bodyshop sometimes we pop them off in a second, same as fitting them nly takes a couple minutes to get it lined up right.

Well Ig uess dont take the hood off but definatly use a prybar?

I did this two days ago because I had the same problem. Get on the side with the motor take your left hand and stick it into the opening where the motor is feel around for where you stick the bar into and pull it towards the center of the car. This makes it's a lot easier when putting the bar back. ( it only took me about 40 mins in the hot FL sun to find this out). There is no need to take the hood off.
