I have noticed that I have a lot of fluid around the power steering pump and at first I thought that I have a leak. Now, I remember that I changed the fluid about a year ago, but I was lazy. I just unplugged the hose from the tank and let it drain all over the engine. I have not drove the maxima but maybe a thousand miles, tops, since then. I know that the rear valve cover is not leaking because I changed it about a month ago. Do you think that draining the fluid all over that side of the engine over a year ago would still look wet like this. Again, I haven't drove it much since then due to other problem but I am trying to determine if something else is leaking in the area. I believe that the front crank seal is leaking also but would it splash all over the power steer pump?

all i had to do was replace a hose and runs great now

I think the only way you'll ever really be able to find out is to clean it. Simple Green will clean just about anything off.
