Shifter popping out of gear

3rdGene just told me last night that his transaxle is now popping out of gear when letting off of the gas. It also grinds going into 2nd gear. Time for a rebuild?

Now a new day: yes, seems to be...

- I'd check gear lever linkage for play: maybe the gear levers dont move into box as far as they should?
- oil change, maybe try some of the zillion snake oils, like phasta xr1?

A possible... but since 2nd gear is grinding... that means the syncro is bad for that gear. A bent shift for would just mean a earlier, or later engagment of the gear.

A quick Q, my s10 grinds 1st and 2ed. 2ed's real bad. Am I hurting it banging into 2ed all day, for the past 2-3 months of every day driving? Basicly I want to sell it and should I replace the syncros and have them worry if 2ed will ever strip the gears or get a junkyard tranny and worry about the whole thing?

S10 trannies are easy to drop. You might save a headache or two by replacing the whole thing... depending upon the new tranny being in decent shape.
