Is your "check engine' light coming on? If so, pull the codes.

If not i would say check injectors......

Real rich or just not burning? Its easy to check ign stuff before swapping injectors; in any case they must be serviced periodically: plugs, cap, wires. And IF u want best spark, u'll make real wires. [this will not correct possible bad injectors, however]

- check the http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/12

- wire gauge: special spark high voltage wire, gage meaningless

- sorry, need some resistors to suppress radio interference. There are resistors that u can install between the wire (screw in both ends) but for some reason the salesmen takes 20x price each compared to plug (why?). Try to get them or plug caps with 1k resistors (5k work though)

- spare shops sell by the meter 3m (10ft) ok for VG

- actually I should search for the net, all the time friends beg me to make 'em...

- will last longer than car, min 10yrs.

- 1/3 cheaper (lots handiwork) than std soot bags

hoho!

Did couple hours seek on the issue. Why this issue is so 'hard to find'; copper wires would not wear out but last 'eternally', the$e markets would collapse:

"...The world ignition wiring sets market is forecast to rise to US$24.8 billion ..."
www.mindbranch.com/products/R241-7360.html - 21k
---------------------------------------------------------------
Heres couple of wire shops & NGK plug numbers for u to further googling:
http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm
http://www.heeters.com/sparkplugs.shtml
http://www.magnetoparts.com/cat_index.htm#Wire

----------------------------------------------------------------
NGK 5Kohm caps
LB05F (angle)
SB05E - 14mm thread, Phenolic resin £2.06 Each , about 3$
SB05F - 14mm thread £2.06 Each
SD05F - 10 & 12mm thread
http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/graphic...caps/SB05E.jpg

----------------------------------------------------------------
With this price I'll come over and install a set for u , Range Rover -style:
http://www.roverconnection.com/Plaza/ultra.jpg
! Only 499$
Btw. I can sell cheaper...

----------------------------------------------------------------
Smbdy suggests:
Find and buy the Bosch plug wire kit for the old flat-four aircooled VW
Beetles. The coil ends are the correct sex, amd the wire is copper core.

Running rich? Black smoke?

Check your 02 sensor and/or TPS (throttle position) sensor. In fuel injected vehicles, these are the most common culprits for a bad air/fuel ratio.

You are probably also wasting $$$ with gas because of this problem. When I changed my 02 sensor, I jumped from like 215miles to 350 miles per tank city driving. It made a hell of a difference, and my car runs better.

Whoa, I guess I learn something new everyday.

My plug wires (which I paid $55 for) suck. period. Infact during the height of humidity here, it's not uncommon for one of the wires to just stop conducting, and my car runs on 5 cyl.. =(

if your looking in the engine bay, the VG has the in take running to the front, then does down in front of then engine and curves around to the MAF, the VEs intake goes off to the side directly into the maf.

Sure I did. But the starter still wasn't where the pictures showed lol. I have alot of work to do on this car so I will be back to post more in a few days lol. among other things valve cover gaskets, a new front blinker,a full exhaust overhaul and a little bit of body work.

okay it runs rich I can smell it no black smoke but its just crazy because heres the story I changed my fuel injectors and put in a diffrent fuel rail well the fuel rail I put in was bent so it was letting air in causeing it to back fire so I took it all back apart took out the injectors and put them back into the original fuel rail and now this runs rich has no power but at idle it runs perfect and smooth almost like as soon as you touch the gas it just dumps it all in and I'm like wtf so now its parked so help is great and also some one suggested checking for codes well I tried that but it throws like three codes then it throws code 55 which is normal operation so what do I do

If we suppose injector issue is ok (quite an assumption), then
- fuel pressure.
- air leak
- Connectors, hoses open?
- Wires, plugs cap etc
- Voltage level at batt, ECU.
- TPS; only while cold. Measure, clean: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/6
- MAF, sensor issues. Check: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/9

All gas engines need some device to start rotatin. Typically its done via a flywheel; on the edge there are gears where electric motor engages.
Flywheel is between tranny and engine, so our starter has to touch it some day. In maybe 99% cases, all gas engine cars, the starter is found on this 'faultline'.

Heres engine end - see the only (3) spot where starter could be installed - pic in the manual, crap chilton manual from free online www.autozone.com...

...or another pic from haynes/chilton, see near LH mount:

thats correct. you have to turn a crank in the front of the car behind the license plate. don't confuse it with the dipstick.
