oil press gauge install

im installing an oil press gauge. eventually im going to t off from the block so i can have both the warning light and my gauge working. i was going to run a line from the block to a t mounted in the engine bay so the stress of the sensores and t doesnt break the adaptor. will a long line effect the reading of the pressure. i was going to use a -3an line to the t and mount it somewhere near the abs lines. also what is norm oil press readings under idle?

No effect. Route loosely from engine to chassis. I installed once, PVC hose inside rubber hose to minimize risk of abrasion, connected well to engine, chassis; (makes nasty spill if u lose the hose)

Now what does the FSM say about pressure? (See Favorite Links.) When hot, its less than cold. Generally has to be over 1kp/cm2 (whatever that ? is in fathoms...)

Dont overdo it, figure out extreme engine movements. Hose has to be free to move between engine and chassis. Other places tie it down, make sure your connections are good. Note that the oil will be hot, (but not at the gauge if not leaking).

The gauges used to be 'all' like that, but electronics are nicer and last longer, cheaper to make/install... That is why u dont usually see them.

You should find all parts in the same shop; otherwise ? wrong shop. Check out ppl homepages for those gauges and PM.

Rubber hose is just safety: we never need em... Clamp taking stress from connection from chassis to engine, damping vibrations between clamp and t connector. No extra loose hose between t and clamp.

Generally I slice rubber hose bits and insert any place in the harnesses where they touch and may vibrate.

As long as youre in a pro shop where they know what they sell for your purpose, its ok. The tubing has to stand bending, pressure, heat up to 300F, and car enviro (oil, gas etc).

The worst thing one may get is a leak, messy. (May also pose fire hazard if injecting on exhaust, but life will end anyways...)

(Dunno of the T & gauge connection types u have, and which tubing u need, I shut up... I've built my systems from industrial, thin PVC piping with special connectors. On places needing extra shield, rubber hose on the PVC. Supports as described)
