Any leak is not normal....

Your problem may be the rear oil on the engine leaking, driveshaft seals or front tranny seal..

yeah, if its on the tranny casing itself, then its probably the rear main seal. don't worry about it if its not dripping. to fix it, you need to drop the tranny

As you drive your car and heat builds up in the tranny, the gear oil will release gases..Them gases need to be vented out...

That is the purpose of the hose....to vent the gases.

To be exact, its heat expansion tube. World is full of this breathing: any closed container is either gettin warmer - or cooling, compared to surrounding ambient temp. This causes pressure disparity.

Higher pressure always wants to flow to lower pressure, like electricity, or water. If there was no outlet in a tranny, this flow would happen via axle seals. That would also cause oil leak, which nobody likes...

Now any closed container is in this breathing business: this is why dust creeps into places like camera lenses, electronics boxes etc. During years these will malfunction because of the dirt or moist carried by this breathing. Well sealed metallic containers fight this phenomena best, but in our tranny we cannot seal up all: we need axles (=seals) to let our horses walk, even race.
